Ma'at's Apprentice: Two one-shots in one night? Why yes.
Companion piece to Magnet and Understand. Can be read as a stand-alone.
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh!
Enjoy.
Sometimes, all it takes to break or heal a heart is one act of kindness. And when that act is performed by the one you love, sometimes that one act is enough to determine the difference between happiness and despair.
For the healing hearts of both a yami and a hikari, sometimes it can mean the world.
A simple touch, a tender smile, an appreciative or uplifting comment... sometimes that's just enough.
There are many ways a heart can be healed, though the process itself can take a long time. But sometimes, just sometimes, there can be a heart big enough to try and heal the world, even when the owner of the heart itself is suffering from the aftershock of a close friend's betrayal.
Soft arms envelope him. A velvet voice whispers in his ear.
"Aibou... aibou..." the voice whispers. The smaller leans back, letting himself be comforted, just this once. Just this once...
"My hikari..." The voice is slightly possessive, filled with authority... and love. Pure, unadulterated love.
Perhaps that is all the smaller needs. The love of his yami. His darkness. His other self.
The other side of his very soul.
A moan is elicited from the smaller. He tilts his head back, so the other has better access.
Another moan. Soft lips, soft kisses. Shifting, as the two move closer together. For awhile, they can pretend. Heal. They can be together, and nothing can stop them. For the gods have destined that they are to be together. They complete each other.
They were made for each other.
Another moan, this time followed by a light mewl as the taller bites harshly on the smaller's neck. Pain and pleasure mingle.
"Yami..." The smaller pants. The other looks up, crimson eyes darkened with passion, lust, and love.
"Yes?" Comes the reply, though it is more of a purr than anything else. For awhile, the room is silent. The two are pressed against each other, the feeling of bare skin driving their senses wild.
"Thank you."
A smile. A short time later, there is another moan. They breathe; oh, gods, do they breathe. They see nothing but each other - need nothing but each other. They remember the times before, when their friends did not know.
Though at first it may not seem like it, perhaps the gods were right in their choice to expose their secret.
For now they know, and now they can heal. And yet, amidst all this, true friends come out. People they would never have expected to care.
But perhaps they cared all along. And now, they can help with the healing.
Two hearts, one soul. One soul, one love. One love, two people.
Each of them healing, each of them loving.
And if you look closely, you see that they are still happy. Together. For they will always be together.
Healing, loving. Forgiving.
Maybe that is the lesson we must all learn.
I need to stop writing random one-shots. Really, I do. I wasn't as satisfied with the ending to this fic, but it still worked.
I think this may be the last one-shot I write in this style... at least for awhile. I should focus on my on-going stories, I'm thinking. Still, every now-and-then it's good to just compose a story at unearthly hours of the morning, don't you agree?
Until next time,
-M.A.
