L leaned back in his chair, sighing and putting his thumb to his lip. He curled up and squirmed slightly, mumbling to himself about how uncomfortable he was and how B wasn't home yet and blah blah blah. He glanced at his clock on his computer screen, which read 12:07 am. Surely B was done with his spree by now?
Apparently not…
Beyond Birthday was sprinting down the road, throwing looks over his shoulder, breathing heavily, and his face flushed. He threw himself into an alleyway, pressed against one of the walls. He tilted his head slightly to see a group of children race by him, not even considering that poor B was tucked in the alley. They shouted "Mister! Come back! You're so scary! Let's see your costume~!"
"Go away…" beyond mumbled once they were out of earshot. He checked his phone for the time: 12:18. He bit his lip and then turned to pound his fists against the wall. "Dammit! L's gonna be worried sick!" He growled. He made sure his weapons were all together and sped down the street.
Halloween was not a good day to screw up.
L groaned and got up, walking to the window o see a group of kids. L smiled warmly to himself and opened the door, grabbing a bowl off the counter by his computer. He fingered the sweets, listening to the crisp crinkling of the cellophane, taking one for himself before opening the door for the kids. They opened their bags, giggling and chatting mindlessly as L scooped sweets into them.
"Stay safe, guys." He mumbled, shutting the door as the kids walked off. He sat on the couch, curling up and starting to eat more of the sweets, deep in thought. So children are out this late, but B isn't back? L huffed to himself. How depressing.
After L got tired of listening to himself think, he sat the bowl down beside him and fell asleep.
Beyond ran home as fast as his long, slender legs could carry him, his face flushed even more now, and his heart pounding loudly in his ears. He tucked the candies under his arm that he had picked up from a store. He flew in the door, heaving and falling against the wall next to it. He closed his eyes to level his breathing, then opening them to reveal a happy, but confused L.
"You're home late." L pointed out, to have an already flustered Beyond blush. "What do you have there?" he asked, tilting his head slightly to view – only to have B shift and hide what he was holding. B laughed nervously, finally relaxing and giving in to the still suspicious L. "I guess I'm caught…"
Beyond shifted over and off the wall tiredly, going for his confused lover. He held out a hand for him, L placing his hand in B's. l blushed as he was pulled to his feet, smiling.
Beyond kissed L's forehead and hand before revealing the huge box of assorted candies. "Happy Birthday, Happy Halloween, Lawli." He mumbled gently.
Only to earn a huge kiss from his lover.
