Sam watches as the photograph catches fire, the edges curling, the image already starting to fade in the heat.

Ellen and Jo. Gone.

Jo giving up her life to help the Winchesters escape. Ellen staying behind, choosing to die at her daughter's side.

The tears are pricking at his eyes. Don't cry 'til you're alone he lectures himself Ellen would've kicked your ass…

I'm already thinking of her in the past tense Sam realizes, and all he wants to do is curl up in a corner and sob.

Instead he watches as fire claims two more people he cared for.
