Roland's big brown eyes were wide as he saw Prince David and Snow White running towards them. His papa had promised to protect the mother and her little baby who had been born just yesterday. He'd never been around a mother and it fascinated him even if he didn't know why yet. He wondered what it would be like to have a mama around and decided that he'd get to find out if it was any fun while Snow White was staying with them.
He hurried to make room for them in their hide-out.
Snow White came into the house and gracefully thanked everyone for their help. She had come under the cover of darkness. Captain Hook and the Queen where distracting the Wicked Witch to help her escape. They still did not know how to escape from the witch, but Roland was sure his papa would figure out a way. His papa was the greatest and there was nothing he couldn't do. Why, he'd even seen an arrow in flight fall to the ground when his papa stretched out his hand.
The baby was making weird sounds. Not crying or screaming, but not entirely quiet either. Roland went and grabbed Mr. Guggy, his stuffed toy bear, to show the baby. Snow White said it was alright and while the adults were talking, Roland got to see the baby. She had hardly any hair and he couldn't even tell what color it would be if there was more of it. The eyes though were a very deep blue that reminded him of the wild blueberries that he used to eat all time back in the Enchanted Forest.
The baby looked right at him and then made a funny face, sticking her tongue out at him. Roland laughed and stuck his tongue out back at her. "Babies are kinda fun" he thought.
Outside, the alarm was sounded.
"They found us!" yelled Will Scarlet as a flying monkey swooped in to attack him from the sky. Prince David's sword cut into the monkey just in time to save him.
Everyone rallied quickly. Weapons were drawn and the team prepared to defend themselves against this latest attack.
Roland also grabbed the wooden sword his papa had made for him. He was about to run to the door to stand guard with Snow White who was firing arrows through the front door, when he remembered the baby who had stopped making her happy noises.
"Don't worry little one. I'll protect you." Roland leaned over and kissed her cheek before taking his stand near the door.
My papa watching the exchanged looked dazed. He looked over to Snow White who hadn't been paying as much attention, but also had a far off look on her face until she immediately looked to the baby and Roland.
"Do you remember too?" Robin asked her.
"Yes. I remember what we did last year and why she needed us to forget."
"And if Regina remembers, this fight is over." Robin smiled. "Plus it looks like we are destined to be in-laws."
Roland just smiled up at them both while the baby started making her happy sounds again.
