Just a short piece I've had floating around for a while. Enjoy!

Sunset

It was a night almost as beautiful as that one, two years before. This time the sky wasn't full of dancing pyreflies, but the sunset was just as magnificent. Clouds laced with golden light stretched across a crimson sky that faded into an inky blackness above. The stars were beginning to come out, tiny pin-pricks of light in the vast expanse above. The wind was strong, but it was warm and caressed her as it tugged at her hair where she stood on the prow of the Celsius, remembering.

The blue and white material tied at her waist was pulled out behind her, playing in the wind. It was a reminder of what she had worn that night; her summoner's attire. The dress of the sacrificial lamb. That night, surrounded by her friends, she had defied destiny, and created a world of calm. They had created a whole new era.

But surrounded by all the beauty of that night, and the unspoken promise of that new world, she had suffered her greatest moment of despair. She still remembered the feel of his fading arms, and the sight of him plummeting, disappearing through the clouds. It was that moment, burned forever in her mind, that had helped her understand Shuyin and Lenne; their story.

As she stared out across the fiery sky, which was slowly being overcome by the starry darkness she wondered if they had ever been able to share a sight like this. Had they ever experienced the beauty of a peaceful Spiran sunset together? He had described to her a sunset over Zanarkand, and as she gazed out now she felt the same feelings she had felt then, visualising the picture he had painted.

Maybe Shuyin and Lenne had shared that wonder together too. A view like this was made for lovers, she thought, smiling to herself as she gazed down at the arms wrapped around her. This night was so much like then. Only these arms weren't disappearing, this time he wouldn't be leaving.

As she turned to face him, the man they belonged to grinned at her, melting her heart as she gazed into his face, framed by his unruly blonde spikes. He had come back to her. Unlike Lenne and Shuyin, they had a second chance, one that she refused to spend on regrets. She opened her mouth, to let him hear the words that Shuyin had never heard.

"I love you, Tidus"

He smiled softly, pulling her closer.

"I love you too, Yuna"
