Authors Note: I own nothing except a vivid imagination and a load of Doctor Who books.

So Waters of Mars has been and gone. What an episode. I wrote this piece because I wanted to see what this new dark Doctor was thinking. It take place while he's transporting the Bowie Base survivors to Earth.

Enjoy.

The Time Lord Victorious

I can see the whole of time and space. Every curve, every ripple. The points in flux and the points that are fixed. That's the gift of the Time Lords. And their curse.

Bowie Base was fixed. It had to happen. Otherwise Susie Fontana Brooke would never join the space agency, never reach Proxima Centuri. The human race would never reach the starts. I should have walked away.

If the Time Lords were still around I would have. Flown away and let them die. History continues as normal. But they aren't. Their dead and I'm alive. Alive and alone. The last of the Time Lords.

And if I am the last it means all their power. All the power of the mightiest race in the galaxy is mine. I can change time as and when I see fit. The laws of time now answer to me. I've saved these people and now history will change.

I've spent the last few years feeling like I'd lost. Lost the war, lost my people, lost my friends. But in fact I've won. Where all else falls away I remain. The last and most powerful of an ancient race.

The Time Lord Victorious.
