Something Interesting

Kisame wanders the forest next to the Akatsuki base late at night. No real reason – he's just bored. Nothing note-worthy has really happened this past month. Same boring routine – be assigned a mission, go off somewhere, kill a bunch of ninja, come back, record the whole thing all along the way. Minus the 'record the mission' part of it, this routine may sound like a lot of fun to some aspiring assassin ninja out there. But in Kisame's case, it gets old pretty damn quickly.

He walks about, studying the trees and shrubs surrounding him - for lack of anything better to stare at, really – when he sees a little light flicker somewhere past the trees.

Wonder what that could be? he thinks to himself. Aware of the possibility of it being a trap, he creeps slowly toward the flickering light, kunai at the ready. As he inches closer, he notices shadows moving about the flickering light, and music from what sounds like a ukulele playing.

Alright, now I'm really curious, Kisame thinks. He slowly sneaks up one step at a time, extremely quietly, lest he be heard by what could possibly be ninja acute in hearing. He hides behind some nearby bushes, and peeks past them, directly at the light, and the beings moving about it. He sees something very, very strange indeed.

The first thing he notices is the light, which is, as he figured earlier, a fire burning and crackling merrily. He then notices Deidara, dressed in some gaudy, dark green outfit laced with purple ribbon and gold coins, sitting with his back against a tree, playing a ukulele with good skill - something kind of unexpected to Kisame, who never thought Deidara to be good at handling a musical instrument. Not that he thought the blondie was bad, but Kisame never really associated him and musical instruments before. The third thing he notices is the strangest of all - the strangest he's ever seen in his life, he's willing to bet, for right there, dancing about the fire in a pink, sequined outfit laced with gold and silver coins suited for belly dancing, is his assigned partner for most of his missions, a man who, Kisame thought, would normally never be caught dead in the previously mentioned outfit – Itachi.

Kisame – shocked to bits – is having no trouble keeping still and quiet so as not to be noticed – he can hardly move anyway, considering the sight he is currently beholding. The shark-like man can't help but just sit there, wide-eyed and slack-jawed at the colorful spectacle before him.

Itachi dances pretty well, actually, he thinks, when he remembers the camera he had recently bought two days ago. He pulls it out of the little bag he's carrying with him. If I'm quick enough, I might be able to get a picture of this without getting caught, he thinks, proceeding to position the camera so as to get a good view of both Itachi and Deidara. With a quick snap of his fingers, he takes the picture, then bolts away from the fire as fast as he can, slipping the camera back into his bag.

Upon reaching the Akatsuki base, Kisame looks behind him to see if Itachi and Deidara noticed the flash from the photo. About five minutes pass, and nothing happens. They didn't seem to notice, apparently. Kisame exhales a sigh of relief, then walks into the base, pulling out his camera to extract the photo which he would soon develop into the image of the events that happened not too long ago. As he does this, he wonders what Itachi or Deidara would do if either found the photo laying around somewhere, or what anyone else in the base would do if they discovered it.

Well, at least something interesting finally happened, Kisame thinks.

The End
