Thinking back to the time I read Winter Winks 221's Rescuers fic, Simplistic Beauty, which had something to do with a little girl, Penny feeling sad for the thought of never getting adopted after Bernard and Bianca rescued her from Madam Medusa, an idea popped into my head for a GMD ficlet, which focuses more on Fidget and his prospective. Just a snippet. Enjoy!

"Fidget, what's the matter?" Basil asked with concern in his voice, seeing Fidget sad and all alone in his bedroom at the Flaversham residence. Dr. Dawson, Olivia, and her father stood right behind him. Basil had decided to try a different question, "Is this about the fact that you worked for Ratigan?"

"No," Fidget replied quietly with hopelessness clouding his heart and mind, then corrected himself, "I mean, yeah, but this is about something different."

Basil's jaw dropped an inch. Little did he know that a helpless Fidget would be focusing on something else. "So, what is it this time?"

"I…um…I…" the vulnerable bat stuttered as if he were already crying, "I know you all accepted me in your life, but even though I'm a bat and not a mouse?"

"Nothing wrong with being a bat," Basil assured him. However, he couldn't deny the fact that Fidget can be downright sensitive at times. That was what the mouse detective chose to consider because he cared to know that Fidget's personality wasn't all an act.

"It's not that I don't like myself, but at least you get it," Fidget went on.

"Toby's a dog, but he's still our friend."

"But he doesn't speak like I do." That was true. Toby had always been nonverbal. Something about Fidget wished he had never spoken a word in his life, not that he didn't like being himself.

"You're right on that one," Basil agreed.

"But like you said, he's still our friend," Fidget said.

Olivia sat next to Fidget and wrapped her arm around his back. "And you are our friend," she finished. Up until now, Basil was doing the comforting, but as of now, it was the girl, who had spoken.

"Ratigan is gone for good and you can be friends with whomever you please," Basil stated, in which Dr. Dawson agreed to and put a smile on the peg legged bat's face. Apparently, Fidget had almost forgotten that Olivia was one of those people who accepted him as a person. "You are one special bat," Basil concluded, "And you know, it's good to be different from the rest."

Fidget's smile brightened further.

Toby stuck his head in Fidget's room, sniffed, and licked the happy bat, which sent a burst of giggles from within.

The End
