Left in the Darkness
Summary: Sparks fly between Emmett and Jasper when Edward is accidentally blinded in a prank that they cause. (starts pre-Bella) (human)
Chapter One
A joke gone to far
"Emmett give it back!" fifteen year old Edward yelled as he chassed his older brother down the stairs of their adoptive parents home.
"Oh come on, Edward, just one little peak, what are you writing about?" Emmett asked as he pretended to open his brother's journal. He wasn't really planning on reading it after all Edward was the only "real" family he had left, he would never betray his trust like that.
Emmett and Edward had been the first two children adopted by Dr. Carlisle Cullen and his wife Esme. Their parents had been killed when Edward was barely a year old, and they had been adopted a year later, the Cullen's were the only parents that Edward had ever known, and really for that Emmett was thankful.
Edward was almost five, Jasper and Rosalie were brought into the family, they were the children of Esme's sister and when they were killed in a car accident the two eight year olds joined the family. Alice was the last one to join when Carlisle found her wondering the streets of their small town on his way home from the hospital were he was working. Alice had been seven years old.
That had been nearly nine years ago, now the five Cullen children were nothing but siblings, and of course as siblings, they teased each other.
Emmett laughed as he watched Edward's face slowly redden even more, as he ran to the living room where their brother and sisters were watching T.V. or reading. He grinned even more as he got closer to Jasper, "Hey Jazz, Edward's journal," he said tossing it at Jasper.
Jasper jumped off the couch and caught it in midair, "Oh, really-Edward you keep a journal? Hum…" he said running his hand over it, "What have you written?"
"Give it back!" Edward said making a grab for it even though he was shorter then both his brothers he was faster, running and just moving in general. He almost had it too before Jasper threw it back to Emmett.
"Oh come on Edward, it can't be that bad," Emmett said with a small smile, he was having a little to much fun for his own good.
"Come on you guys, give it back to him," sixteen year old Alice said putting down the book she had been reading in the corner of the room.
"Oh Alice, Edward knows we're just playing around, don't you Edward?" Emmett said as he tossed the book back to Jasper.
"Its not funny Emmett, can I have it back please?" Edward asked just as Emmett threw the book, sending it over Edward's head once again.
"He said please Jazz," Emmett sighed, the book still in midair.
Jasper nodded as he caught it, "Okay Edward, here caught."
Jasper threw the book towards his little brother with a little to much force. The journal flew over Edward's head and toward the stairs. Edward sighed and made a jump for it, he caught it be, it was heavier then he thought and it pulled him back as he fell to the ground. His head broke his fall by connecting to the stairs with a huge thud, then everything went black.
