It seemed like a normal family reunion. Extended cousins, aunts, and uncles all getting together for the first time in a long time. And, to tell you the truth, it was completely normal. The only thing that set it apart from other events was that it was the place our story begins.
In a small park in a small town of France, two particular teenagers sat across from each other at a picnic table, cousins, to be exact.
"So, Sissi, tell me more about life at a preppy boarding school," requested one the two teenagers, Olivia.
"Well," she started in an incredibly annoying voice, "I don't want to brag, but I have the most amazing boyfriend ever," she lolled, extending a small photo of a German looking boy with brown hair, and the name 'Ulrich' was written on the photo with a bunch of little hearts.
Olivia's eyes widened a bit, not quite believing her cousin.
Sissi smirked at Olivia's disbelief, "and that's not even all of it."
Odd and Ulrich stood by the vending machines drinking their hot beverages on a sunny day.
"Did you here about the new student coming to Kadic?" asked Odd
"Sissi's cousin, Olivia?" responded Ulrich.
"Yeah, her."
"Of course, Sissi has been bragging about it all week," Ulrich rolled his eyes, "she's so annoying."
A girl with mid length blonde hair walked up to the two friends, and looking Ulrich up and down she said, "Hello, you must be Ulrich, I'm Olivia." She smiled brightly and looked around quickly. "Could I ask you a question or two?"
"Um, sure?" said Ulrich.
"Okay, first off, are you Sissi's boyfriend?" she asked.
Ulrich eyes grew to the size of golf balls, "Of course not! Bleh!" he practically yelled.
She didn't seem quite satisfied with his answer, and began to bombard him with questions, "Have you ever been herb boyfriend before."
"No!"
"Does the whole school 'worship the ground she walks on'?"
"What on Earth gave you that idea?!"
"Are the two guys who follow Sissi around star football players?"
"No..."
"Is Sissi the smartest person in school?"
"Ha. That's a funny one!"
A great look of relief washed over Olivia's face, she put her hand on Ulrich's shoulder, and said, "Thank you, SO MUCH for that," she then looked to the sky, "the world makes sense now!"
She glanced around, only to see Sissi coming in their direction. "EEP!" she squealed, "hide me!" Odd pointed to a trash can, which Olivia quickly dove behind.
"ULRICH DEAR!" said Sissi, "have you seen my cousin, Olivia?"
"Why, no," Ulrich said, "I haven't seen her."
She said "Well if you do... Don't talk to her!" then quickly walked away, continuing her search.
"Is she gone?" Olivia whispered from behind the trash can.
"Yeah," responded Odd. Olivia came out from behind the trash can, dusting herself off. "So, why did you hide, again?"
"Well, I can't have her know that I've met her 'boyfriend'," said Olivia with an evil grin, "that would take away any chance at some fun."
"Practical joke?" asked Odd.
"Oh yeah."
"Okay, I definitely don't wanna miss this," said Ulrich.
"I had THE perfect idea, if you guys are willing to play along."
