Kitty was running late. Very late. She was supposed to meet her parents ten minutes ago, but finding a parking spot in Brooklyn was a lot harder than she had imagined. Even more difficult than convincing Scott to let her borrow his car.
With the parking spot, came the timed payment. Kitty found a nearby kiosk that could easily read the credit card her parents gave her. She opened her purse, scouring the inside for her wallet when suddenly it was snatched out of her hands. She looked up, screeching, "Hey!"
A guy, much bigger than her, in a dark windbreaker was rushing away with her purse clutched underneath his arm.
"Get back here!" she shouted, starting to chase after him.
Kitty followed him around a corner into an alley, prepared for a fight if necessary, but she had been too late. She stumbled in shock when she found the man wrapped up in some sort of netting against the side of an apartment building. Her jaw hung ajar as she tried to put the pieces together.
Suddenly, a person in a tight blue and red costume jumped down in front of her, landing on his hands and feet. The shrouded figure stood up and then walked over to the man who had stolen her purse. He pried the bag loose before returning it to her.
"Your bag, ma'am."
Kitty felt her face flush in embarrassment at the sound of a young man's voice projecting through the mask. He couldn't have been older than her. She took her bag before brushing her bangs out of her line of vision. "Thank you, uh -"
"Spiderman," he informed, planting his hands on his hips and puffing out his chest heroically.
Kitty giggled, shaking her head, "Spiderman?"
Spiderman suddenly dropped his stance, dropping a couple of inches, and crossed his arms over his chest defensively. "It's a cool name," he whined.
Kitty glanced over at the thief glued to the wall, pondering momentarily if she should show off as well. She quickly second guessed herself. She looked back at Spiderman. "It isn't half bad." She shouldered her purse. "Thank you, Spiderman." She turned away from him, heading back to the street to pay for her parking spot.
