I got this idea when I was flipping through City of Bones. The writing in italics is a direct quote from page 220. The scene's set right after the quote (ignoring Jace's next comment) and when it ends the story continues.

Magnus, standing by the door, snapped his fingers impatiently. "Move it along teenagers. The only person who gets to canoodle in my bedroom is my magnificent self."
"Canoodle?" repeated Clary, never having heard the word before.
"You…um…canoodle…in your room?" Alec asked before Jace could make a rude comment. The group turned to look at him. Alec's face was a flushed, healthy looking colour, much different from its usual pale pallor. Clary assumed this meant he was blushing. She looked at Magnus, then back to Alec. "You know what it means?" she asked the black-clad teenager.
Alec nodded "It means to kiss and cuddle amorously," he said, blushing harder, so his face was actually starting to get a pink tinge to it.
"You sound like a dictionary," Jace laughed.
"Oh, that's probably, because I was reading one before," Alec said, his face starting to return to its usual white colour. "You were reading a dictionary?" Jace asked, clearly astounded. He pulled a face of shock horror. "I'm surprised you know what a dictionary is, Shadowhunter!" Magnus laughed at him. Alec made the choking noise which Clary reconfirmed as his laugh.
"Wait a second!" Clary said, remembering what Magnus had said originally. "One one gets to canoodle in your room, but you," she said, turning to face Magnus "So you're…canoodling…in your room…by yourself?" Clary asked, voice getting higher with each word.
"That's right," Magnus said smoothly to Clary. He then turned to face Alec and winked "Unless anyone wants to join me." Alec blushed again and stood, rooted to the spot, stammering incoherent sentences. Jace rolled his eyes and grabbed his friend's arm, pulling him away from Magnus's bedroom before he could do anymore damage. Clary laughed nervously and followed the boys after Magnus had locked his bedroom door.
