Merlin always knew he was different from most, it wasn't something apart of him like the magic he possessed. It was more like something he was missing, something that he should know but could not remember. It was this feeling that truly separated him from others even his friends and family. He had learned to live with it, pushing it to the back of his mind, yet it was always there.
Arthur narrowed his eyes and his hand came to rest on his sword
The woman was dressed in silver armor over black leather, a dark blue cape was draped over her shoulders and a simple silver sword was strapped to her side. She wore no helmet and instead wore her dark hair in a tight bun, her eyes were a piercing blue-grey with a light scar over her left eye as well as a few down her cheek and neck. Behind her followed five more people dressed in similar ways, three men and two women, they rode in a diamond-like formation ( Her up front, two to either side of her but behind, and one in the middle, behind the group). The group of soldiers was no older than Merlin and Arthur. The leader, as merlin guessed, dismounted her horse. Her eyes seem to brighten when they landed on Merlin, the corner of her lips turning upward slightly in an almost smile.
"Merlin, is that really you?" she asked.
"Do I know you?" Merlin raised an eyebrow, searching his mind and trying to remember if he saw the women's face before. There was a part of that felt like he knew her, or he should, but he was sure he had never seen this woman before. The other five people dismounted as well.
"I was afraid you wouldn't remember me, but a part of you does. Look inside yourself, you recognize my face don't you." The women said as if coaxing a wide animal. Merlin racked his mind, he did know the face. He soon came upon a wall in his mind. 'How long has this been here?' Merlin wondered. Soon the wall came down and memories came rushing back, ones that were replaced with the current life he thought was real. His whole life was a lie, he wasn't raised as a peasant, he was a prince and was raised as such until his kingdom was attacked. The women who stood before him was his childhood friend and protector.
"Adia." Merlin breathed, his shocked expression turned into a grin.
"My lord," Adia said with a smile. She got down on a knee with her right hand in a fist over her chest. The other knights followed suit.
"You're a prince!?" Arthur almost shouted.
"We'll yeah... But I didn't remember until know. My memories were altered for my own protection."
"By magic?"
"Well yeah...The Kingdom of _ accepts magic." Merlin rubbed the back of his neck
"And you have magic." It was more of a statement that a question.
"Yes... You're taking this better than expected." Merin said suspiciously.
"I had my suspicions, I'm not as stupid as you may think," Arthur smirked
"So you're okay with... you know my magic" Merlin wouldn't look him in his eye
