The blonde rolled over in bed and wrapped her arms around her wife. Snuggling in closer, she pressed her face into Lexa's chestnut locks and inhaled. She loved the coconut scented shampoo that the brunette had started using recently. Something about it reminded her of the vacation they had taken several years earlier before all of the work had gotten in the way. They had gone to Florida to celebrate Lexa's graduation and to spend some well-earned time in the sun. While much could be said about how much time they actually spent outside of their hotel room, it was still a vacation for the books.
Clarke smiled, remembering how relaxed Lexa had been and how she wished so much that things were still that simple. Things weren't simple though. Not with all of the work the law firm was pushing onto her wife in the last year. Not with all of the classes Clarke was trying to get through in order to graduate that May. Not with everything that had happened with Finn.
Her heart panged with memories of Finn. With a sad sigh she pulled her wife closer, planting a kiss on her exposed shoulder.
"Good morning, Clarke," Lexa's sleepy drawl came from next to her.
The blonde grinned softly. It never ceased to stun her how beautiful the brunette was. Still smiling, Clarke closed the difference between them and pressed a gentle kiss to Lexa's lips. Her wife responded with a kiss of her own, her arms snaking around Clarke's waist.
"I love waking up with you next to me."
Clarke agreed and planted another kiss against her wife's lips before sighing and resting her head back against the pillow. Lying there, her mind slowly drifted back to the dull pain that reminded her that someone was missing.
Lexa, as if sensing her wife's thoughts, pulled her closer and nuzzled her face into Clarke's neck.
"I miss him too, baby."
It had only been three weeks since everything had happened with Finn and it had hit both woman hard. He had been such a huge part of their lives. He was their family and now he was gone thanks to some idiot driver.
"It's just not fair."
Lexa nodded, running a soothing hand through Clarke's blonde tresses. As her tears started to fall, Lexa wiped them away leaving feathery kisses behind.
Clarke cursed the driver that hit Finn. She cursed the weather that day that made the roads so slippery. In fact, she cursed herself for letting Finn wander so far ahead of her on their walk that morning.
"He was a good dog."
Clarke could only agree.
