Upstairs Alex put his stethoscope on his ears to listen to her lungs. Deep breath. Kimmy took a deep breath & coughed. Alex took his stethoscope off his ears & put the thermometer under her tough. Melman did an exam. & put an oxygen tube around her nose. Alex can I talk to you? They went outside the hallway. I need to check for Meningitis so I need you to perform a spinal tap. They went into the room. Alex talk to Kimmy. Kimmy? This is what going to happen. I need to put needle in your back to collect spinal fluids. It may hurt a little. Melman taps on Alex shoulder. You know we can use emla cream. It's a numbing cream we use on all cubs. Alex put the cream on Kimmy's back & let it set covered with plastic wrap. Meanwhile, Alex prep the spinal tap tray for the procedure. 30 Minute's later Kimmy's back was numb enough. Alex draped the site & put iodine on the site & started to put the spinal needle in. Fluids was dripping out into a test tube & patched up the site & gave the test tube full of spinal fluids to fluids was cloudy. Kimmy was resting on the gurney. Alex started up I.V drip & gave human Aspirin for the headache. Melman came back with the lab results. It was meningitis & was admitted in the Hospital in the cub ward. Alex did vital sign's & blood tests. Melman wheeled in the bedside ultrasound machine to did and ultrasound on her glands & thyroid & ordered bed rest. Alex hang the I.V bag with meds. & oxygen.
Gia came to the Hospital when Alex went out of her . She's sleeping. How is she? asks Gia. She very sick & she need rest. Come on. let's go for the & Alex went to the cafeteria. Thet were in the cafeteria to have some coffee together. Alex's pager went off & herd. CODE BLUE.Alex ran upstairs. Kimmy stop breathing so Alex had to intubate & put a tube down her lungs & attach it to a bag to help her breathe. Melman put a catheter in her bladder to get a urine sample. They wheeled her to ICU to put her on life support.
A couple days later, Kimmy was feeling a lot better & was discharged.
