An Unbreakable Bond

"I love you. Not only for what you are. But for what I am when I am with you."-Roy Croft

He looked over at her sleeping form. He loved her the most at these moments when the stress of the world wasn't etched onto her face. When the weight of being his wasn't weighing on her shoulders. He loved her more like this. He gently ran a finger down her face, making sure not to disturb her. His ears picked up on the soft, rhythmic thum-thump of her heart. He listened closely, memorizing the very essence of her. His golden eyes watched her chest rise and fall gently. He wanted to kiss her there, in that soft spot between her breasts. His second favorite spot in the whole world. Second only to that wonderous place that lay between her creamy thighs. Kagome shifted and now he could see his pride and joy. That beautiful blue crescent moon contrasted starkly with the paleness of her skin. She beared his make. Visible to every man, woman and child. That mark represented so much more than being mates. It showed InuYasha that she was his. That she accepted him, wholly and fully. That with her, he could be everything and anything. It showed that he could be more than his mother, more than his father, more than a hanyou.
She had forsaken her time to be his. And every day, he prayed to the gods that he is able to give her the love and affection that she deserved. Finally stirring from her sleep, Kagome gazed sleepily upon his face, a lazy smile forming. "Well, good morning...how long did I sleep?" she asked stretching. He watched her back arch gracefully.
"Not long enough." he finally replied. She shrugged and snuggled back into the covers, willing to sacrifice a few minutes to enjoy the warmth of the bed. Kagome looked up at InuYasha. He said nothing, but stared at her as if he was trying to convey a thousand messages with just one look. "What?" she asked, feeling a litte self-conscious.

"I love you."

Kagome smiled. "Well, I love you too but-"

"No.: he cut her off. "I don't think you understand. I. Love You. Everything I am, I am because of you. Before I met you, I was confused. I felt like and outside and was treated like one. Hated by my brother. Hated by humans. I was part of both worlds and accepted by neither. But when I met you," he grabbed her hand and pulled her into his chest "you made me whole. You and your ramen noodles and the way your nose wrinkles when you're mad. The way you sing my name when I make love to you." Kagome squirmed a little at this last comment. "Screamed is more like it." she offered. Kagome lifted her head. "But why are you telling me this now?"

"Because when I woke this morning an looked over and saw this beautiful angel laying next to me, I realized that I didn't want to be anywhere else. I didn't want to be with anyone else. I would rather die than be without you." He kissed her gently, feeling her lips tremble. He looked into her eyes, glassy with unshed tears.

"And I would be honored if this very same angel would bear my pups." Kagome gasped as the tears ran down her face. She kissed his deeply. She kissed him passionately. He made love to her as if it were their last day on Earth. They took each other to heights never explored, each body fully satisfied and yet yearning for more. With worldly obligations long forgotten, the lovers lay in each other's embrace. The mark on Kagome's neck deepened to a midnight blue, showing them and the whole world that their connection is Unbreakable. Even in death, their souls will be ever intertwined. Even in their reincarnations, their souls will be still drawn to one another. They're very few of these bonds in the world.
