A/N: This is my very first story to be posted here so all reviews will be welcome! This idea came out of nowhere when I wondered how it would be if James wouldn't have instantly fallen for Lily. I realise it's rather short but the next will be much longer, it's just an introduction :).

James Potter and Lily Evans were sworn enemies. Were Gryffindors even supposed to have enemies? Beside Slytherins, of course. James didn't care; he didn't like Evans, at all. The way she always knew things before James bothered him. She was more know-it-all than James and everyone knows that know-it-all people do not like their own species.

It was rather hard for James to hate her though, because of Evans's and the rest of the Marauders' friendship. Where did that come from, anyway? How on earth did that happen? It must've been somewhere in the between the third and fourth year, James recalled. Never let your friends out of sight, they may befriend with a annoying red-head.

"Mate, she really isn't that awful," Sirius said in one of his operations to settle things between two of his closest friends "she's actually rather funny, if you are open minded,"

"And she smells nice, like soap and flowers," Remus volunteered.

"You and your wolf nose," James said with a grin, "nice try guys, I just don't like her. You can't change that, she's still annoying," Sirius sighed.

"Fine, I'll stop, it's your loss though, she's one of the few cute red-heads here, and everyone knows how you Potters have thing for those," Sirius smirked as he saw James blush.

"We do so not, Padfoot!"

"You so do," a new voice said behind them "we're just so irresistible," the three boys turned around only to see Lily Evans smirking cheerfully at them. Sirius and Remus smiled back, leaving only James looking frustrated but not saying a word, he didn't want to get further into the subject, his mother was after all a red-head…

"Where's your fourth pack member?" Lily asked as she sat beside James close to the fireplace in the Gryffindor common room.

"Guess twice, Wormie is trying to get the house elves to give him some more of that chocolate pudding from dinner," Sirius said, smiling at the thought of Peter begging the little elves for some pudding, the elves really didn't seem to like Peter like they did liked the rest of the pack.

"You really have the worst nicknames, you know that right," Lily said and shook her head so red hair locks fell out of their order. "They simply make no sense."

"You're just jealous because girls don't have a pack-nickname, Evans,"

"It's Lily, James, not that hard," Lily said, looking not slightly bit touched at the fact that James didn't even bother to call her by her first name.

"Don't mind James, he's just having his monthly PMS," Remus said seriously which immediately got Lily and Sirius to burst into laughter. James looked irritated at Remus.

"Speaking of monthly…"

"That's enough, James!" Sirius cried out leaving Remus to blush dark purple-red, a colour that James didn't even remember ever shown on Remus' usually-pale face before. James looked neutral, feeling like they had it all coming. Trying to control who he hang out with was so not cool. But after few, brief moments, he came to his senses shot a very unnoticeable apologising look at Remus.

„Have you done your Ancient Runes homework for tomorrow?" Lily asked and seemed highly interested at the subject. James groaned.

"As we don't talk about homework enough already with Moony mood killer over here, you have to bring another homework obsessed person to our group?" James looked anything but happy at Sirius.

"I'm in your little group! Oh, James, you really know how to make a girl blush," Lily said sarcastically. Clearly not too happy about being interrupted in the middle of a conversation. James was not amused and shot her a rather all-too evil eye. He did not know where this conversation was going, but not the way it should be.

"Sorry, mate, but you actually admitted it," Sirius said, highly amused. James rolled his eyes with great enthusiasm. He wondered as the evening passed by and all the Gryffindors slowly finished their homework and headed up to their dormitory how he could get rid of Evans so everything could go back to normal. After all he didn't want some girl (and an annoying one, too) get between the magnificent Marauders. There were too many pranks to be pulled to have a prefect hovering over their shoulders, aside from Moony of course.
