Despite what everyone probably thought, they were just friend. Best friends, inseparable even. Though, most of the time she acted like she hated her guts, she always was there to help her. Unless it was with homework, no copying her with homework. In truth, she had opened her home- which she usually came to, to get something to eat- and her heart to the blond perverted, immature, irresponsible, and slow… her best friend.
The day started off as usual. Lunch time came round and they were in the club room- which had previously been the Tea Club, but had been disbanded and used as the Amusement Club, now used by the four friends- Akari eating her lunch slowly, making small talk with Chinatsu. Chinatsu… That child, she could tell had a crush on her, but would never act on it. Kyouko was sprawled on the floor her face distorted in pain and disgust at the math problems in front of her.
"Yuuuui-chan!" cried a desperate Kyouko.
"Yes?" replied Yui without shifting her eyes from the manga she was currently reading.
"I love youuu~" Kyouko stated sweetly.
Yui had anticipated this, and said, "I'm not giving you my homework." and went back to her manga. Kyouko's face fell in despair. She gave a whine and fell to the ground face first.
"But, but, but, Yui!" came the muffled complaint from the bundle of human limbs and clothes.
"Try doing your homework for once, Kyouko, you might learn something."
Chinatsu scowled. "Yui's right, you aren't being a good role model, not doing your homework, tssk. Now Yui, Yui-senpai always does her work and she's so smart and cool and, and…" Chinatsu kept raving about her crush with sparkling eyes and a heavy blush. Akari struggled to get into the conversation and be noticed.
"Kyouko-chan, I can help you if you want." Akari offered sweetly.
"TOSHINO KYOUKO!" came the expected yell and with that the club door slammed open. "Sorry for the intrusion." Apologized Chitose softly, walking loyally behind her best friend.
"Eh? Why'd you always come here? Oh! Maybe you can't resist this?" replied slyly Kyouko.
Ayano looked mortified at what she had just heard. Her face lit up a red that apples envied. She looked to the side, embarrassed.
"N-n-n-no, I didn't come for y-y-you. I just felt like coming…" she mumbled other things that were inaudibly. A delighted Chitose felt a nose bleed coming. Ayano picked up from where she had left off, "This time I will beat you on the tests! You watch Toshino Kyouko!"
"Bye everyone, until later." said a currently bleeding Chitose, closing the door behind her.
"Yuuuuui." sang Kyouko sweetly, she had an innocent look on her face.
"No." stated Yui simply, "You should have done you homework."
Again Kyouko looked devastated. The bell rang, and Kyouko looked positively bitter. She shuffled alongside Yui to their next class with a dark shadow over her face, which was soon replaced with relief when she noted there was a substitute. Yui stared at the unbelievable luck of this girl. She shook her head with a small smile.
Of course we're best friends... She thought with a roll of her eyes. She looked over at Kyouko. A smile crossed her face. They'd be friends for time to come…
