Author's Note: The next song on the Country Song Title Prompt two list from the Song Title Prompt forum. I will say that this is a very short one shot of SSA Aaron Hotchner's thoughts and will not have any dialogue in the story. I hope that you will give it a chance and read it.
I do not own the rights to Criminal Minds or the song.
The Prompt: You'll Think of Me by country artist Keith Urban.
Supervisory Special Agent in Charge Aaron Hotchner stared out of his house window as he thought about Supervisory Special Agent Emily Prentiss. He should have known that when she walked out of his life and told him you'll think of me that he would do that just. He loved her then and he loved her now. He just did not think that he was good enough for her.
Not an hour, a minute or a second went by that his mind was not on Emily. He thought about her every second of every day. He thought about her even when he was sleeping. He knew that he loved her but he never knew how much he loved her until he sent her away from him. He knew that in the end the decision he made would be the right one for him but it was killing him.
He was not sure that he could last much longer before he tried to get her back. He needed her like he needed air to breathe and he was close to running out of air to breathe. Just as he thought that there was a knock on his door. He sighed and got up from his spot and walked to the door.
His breath locked deep in his chest as he saw that it was Emily standing at his door. He was not sure what was going on but before he could even think of turning away and not answering the door he pulled it open. He stood there standing in his doorway taking in Emily with his eyes. He could not believe how easier it seemed to him for him to breathe just because he saw her.
He noticed Emily taking him in as well and then he pulled her into his arms and crashed his lips upon hers. He did not care if she could do better than him anymore. If that was selfish then he would be selfish for once. He needed her and now that she was back in his arms he was never letting her go again. He did not care that it was against what his head was telling him. He was finally going to listen to his heart instead of his head.
