Ziva had been unusually quiet lately, and more withdrawn, it was a month after Jen's death, and since her death she had blamed herself for her friend's death, and however much she tried to forget, she couldn't.
Every time she looked up at the director's office or at MTAC, she would remember, and a pain would strike through her heart.
Jethro Gibbs had noticed her behaviour lately, was getting worse and he stood up and walked over to her, "Come with me", he ordered her and walked to the elevator as she followed him.
Tony and McGee watched on curiously but decided to keep quiet, as the young Mossad officer followed their boss.
Ziva and Gibbs entered the elevator and waited with baited breath as the small metal box started to move, then came to an abrupt stop as Jethro slammed his hand on the emergency stop button, causing the elevator to jolt and stop, the lights dimming and the emergency lights flashing on.
Ziva stood with her head down, facing the front of the 'conference room', whilst Jethro stood leaning back against the elevator, facing her small frame.
"You gonna tell me what's wrong?"He asked, in his usual cocky manner.
Ziva turned, "Nothing is wrong, why would you think that?"
Jethro sighed, "What I should have asked you is, why do you keep blaming yourself for her death? It wasn't your fault"
Ziva bit her lip, her Mossad defences threatening to break down, "I was her protection detail, I should have protected her"
Gibbs shook his head, "She dismissed you, she was the director, there was nothing else you could've done"
Ziva nodded and sighed, "I miss her"
Gibbs pulled the young Israeli into his arms, and held her to him, "Yeah, so do I".
She relaxed into his embrace, and wrapped her arms around his waist, and smiled.
She looked up at him, and smiled, "Thank you"
Gibbs grinned back, "No problem, I'm here for you, whenever you need me"
Ziva smiled, and glanced at his lips before looking back up at his blue eyes, becoming lost in them, as their faces drew closer, and their lips met in tender and loving kiss.
