Feckless Pondering

KPOV

by: Katie Todd

It was by no means the first time I had pondered the red head's stupidity. It was simply the first time I had pondered it while watching her. She was in our interrogation room fiddling with the handle of her Coach bag, while letting her big green orbs dissect the room. I looked down at the file in my hand and glanced over the details as I let her seep for a little longer. Marie Hope Stevenson AKA ex-wife number three. She was pleading innocent, the victims blood all over her hands apparently just appeared there. And her manicured prints that were all over the pistol whose bullets had turned our once handsome victim into a piece of Swiss cheese had apparently been manufactured, or put there by the fingerprint framing fairy.

I would never get over how stupid some criminals could be, especially red heads. It seemed to be a new pattern of late, ex-wife number one had ended up in the same chair this one now sat in last week. The lawyer from the case before hers had dated Jet for about six months. These women, these red headed women seemed to be the murder out of jealousy type which was ironic seeing that they seemed to be the one's caught having affairs. Jet broke up with the layer after he found her making out with another man just outside his car, and ex-wife number one he had caught her in bed with another man. Like I stated before they were all stupid jealous idiots.

Personally, I couldn't see why they would want to hurt Jet. Why they would want a relationship with him to end. Ours was going great. Just yesterday I had come to work to find a bouquet full of daisies on my desk with a card that read 'to remind you that you're beautiful'. Every smirk he let me see brightened my day and yet here in our interrogation room was a red head that didn't find him worthy of her time. It floored me.

"Katie," I turn at the whisper to see the object of my affections standing behind me. His hands were almost nervously shoved in his pockets and he rocked slightly onto his heels, "why don't you get in there before she gets so nervous she calls for a lawyer," he paused and at an effort for humor added, "knowing my luck..." he trailed off and I got the message.

I smiled up at him in an effort to reassure and entered the interrogation room. I pulled my chair slightly back from the table so I wouldn't tempt myself and started the interrogation.

"Why don't you go ahead and confess. That way we can get this over with." The idiot in front of me just blinked as she twirled her starched purse strap around her finger. I could almost hear Jet's laugh from the other room.
