Secret Admirer
This is set during TDROTI.
If you like JoxBrick, please read the season 5 I'm writing, there's a lot of Jock in it, they're pretty much the main couple :)
*******************************
Jo's POV
I walked into my side of the cabin with heavy steps. The challenge today was torturous, none of my team were helping out and I lost because of those idiots. Stupid team! I'd be better off on my own.
I sat down on my bunk and noticed a crinkling of paper underneath me. Confused, I got up and saw a letter, crumpled a little from being sat on.
A letter? This couldn't be for me...? I flipped it over and in big curly letters on the back was my name, Jo. Who would send me a letter?
I cautiously slid a finger underneath the fold of the envelope, opening it up. Inside was a piece of paper, folded neatly. I unfolded the letter and read it slowly.
Jo,
Your beauty captured my eyes
from the moment I first saw you.
You are strong, determined,
intelligent, flawless.
You are my everything.
I can't wait for the day,
You are mine.
Sincerely,
Your Secret Admirer
The handwriting was the same as on the envelope. Loopy and girly. My secret admirer? As if! It was probably one of the girls playing a joke on me! Either that or a guy with really girly handwriting... I quickly pushed the thought out of my mind. Nobody had any reason to like me, it must be a practical joke.
I crumpled up the letter in one hand and threw it on the floor. Everyone hates me. I hate me. I kicked the letter under my bunk angrily, before getting into bed.
Sleep would fix this. After a good rest, I could forget about the letter and focus on winning.
-THE NEXT MORNING-
Brick's POV
I got up even earlier than usual this morning, and begun stretching, preparing for my morning run. I waited for Jo to wake up as I breathed in the fresh air.
Had she got the letter I sent her? Would she know it was me who sent it? What would she think?
I heard a door slam and turned around to see Jo leave the girl's side of the cabin.
'Good Morning, Jo!', I said cheerfully.
'Hey Soggy-drawers'
'Wanna race?'
'Well, if you can keep up?', she smirked as she sprinted off.
I sprinted off after her and was only a few meters behind. Pushing myself, I ran faster until we were neck-and-neck.
'I think you meant, if you can keep up with me!', I shouted while running, the wind blowing on my cheeks.
'You'll have to do better than that, Dampy-pants!', she shouted back as she sped in front of me once again.
I tried to catch up to her, but she was so fast, still several steps behind her I was getting pretty tired. I watched her increase her lead, until one of her feet got caught on a branch and she tripped over.
'OUCH!', she yelled as she fell on the hard ground.
'Jo?', I ran over to her, worried.
'I'm fine', she grumbled as she sat up. Her knee was scraped and blood was trickling out of the wound.
'No you're not! You're bleeding!'
'I'm fine!', she repeated as she stood up, frustrated, 'stop pretending to care, anyway, It's my problem, not yours!'
'Of course I care!', I stood up with her, now angry that she can't see what she means to me.
'Oh yeah? Prove it!', she yelled, her face inching closer to mine.
'Fine! I will!', I yelled back, before closing the gap between our faces and pressing my lips to hers. We kissed for a few seconds before pulling away slowly.
'Didn't you get my letter?', I asked softly.
'I'm not used to being cared for', she replied with a small smile, 'C'mon Brick-house, I need a band-aid', she said as she grabbed my hand and walked with me back to the cabins.
