Yes, yes, everyone, I'M NOT DEAD. YAY. I'm sorry I haven't updated lately...I just started high school, and I've got homework and art and original stories to work on. I'll try to update Promise as soon as I can, and I really need to update SAoV...-shakes head sadly-

Well, here's something I wrote for the 100 Manga Theme Challenge. Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is my latest fangirlism. I love Kyon. -

5. Seeking Solace

The door to the clubroom swung open, and Haruhi Suzumiya waltzed in, a triumphant grin on her face.

"MIKURU-CHAAAN!! GUESS WHAT I GOT!?"

I glanced up from the computer screen at Haruhi. She had a shopping bag in one hand and a very skimpy-looking cat suit in the other. Mikuru turned bright red, gave a small squeak and ran to the other end of the room.

"Hey, where are you going? Get back here!" Haruhi huffed, hopping over Mikuru's chair and running over to where she stood. I tried to ignore them by going back to my work.

--files are available to download for computers with a wireless connection--

"S-Suzumiya-san, no..! I don't wanna wear it...!"

"Oh, come on, Mikuru-chan, think of all the publicity we'll get!"

"I don't want publicity if I have to wear that...!"

I clicked the "download" button, minimized the window and decided to check the club's emails.

You have no new mail.

Of course. Why did I think otherwise?

"You're gonna wear it and you're gonna like it! Now stop squirming!"

"Suzumiya-saaan, I don't want to...!"

"I don't care, you're still gonna wear it. Nagato-kun, help me out here!"

No reply. Wow, didn't see that coming.

An email icon suddenly popped up at the corner of the screen. Startled, I clicked on it.

You have one new message. From: Itsuki Subject: What's up?

It figures that Itsuki would send the club an email just to give me something to do.

Kyon,

What's up?

"WAAH! Suzumiya-san, you made me spill the tea!"

"Who CARES about the tea?! Just put the costume on, I wanna see if I got the right size!"

I know it's you on the computer, because Suzumiya's probably too busy harrassing Asahina-chan to be on...and Nagato's reading. I know that for a fact.

I could almost hear Itsuki chuckle in the message as he said this. That stupid, smiling idiot.

Another chair was knocked over as Haruhi leaped at the retreating Mikuru, the contents of the bag spilling onto the table. A set of kitty ears, a collar with a little bell...

It was hard not to think about Mikuru as a little kitty and not turn bright red in the process, so I went back to the email.

I'm sorry I couldn't be there today. One of the teachers asked me to fix the computer in the main office...why they asked me is still a mystery.

Haruhi pounced on Mikuru, finally stopping her.

"AHA. I'VE GOT YOU."

Can you ask Asahina-chan to leave me some tea? Fixing computers--

"WAAH, NO, LET GO."

--is a lot of--

"JUST PUT IT ON!"

--hard--

"I DON'T WANT TOOO!"

--work--

"DO IT ANYWAY--"

I stood up and slammed my fist on the desk.

Everyone froze.

"Would everyone just SHUT UP ALREADY?!??!" I shouted. Haruhi was tugging on the hem of Mikuru's uniform shirt, and Mikuru was in the process of shoving her off. Both were staring at me with wide eyes. Yuki, of course, didn't even react to my sudden outburst. She just kept reading, as usual.

Haruhi suddenly frowned.

"Kyon, Mikuru's about to change. Can't you leave already? You're being annoying."

I huffed and, closing the email, left the room. Once the door shut, I could hear the yelling and protesting continue.

I sighed and glanced down the hallway. Not a student or teacher in sight. I looked down the other way. No one.

It never occured to me how peaceful and quiet the hallway was with no one in it...maybe I should get myself kicked out more often?

Well, that's it...I noticed I'm getting really good at oneshots. I should do them more often. :)
