"Walter?"
"No."
"Wade?"
"No."
"Weber?"
"Nope."
"Wilhelm?"
"Ew, no."
"William?"
"You've guessed that one so many times that I don't think that I have to answer that one anymore."
Kat sighed. It was true. She was playing the guessing game to try and figure out Hale's first name – and then she would try and guess his middle name. But they had been at this for an hour now and she had gotten nowhere.
"I'm beginning to think that you don't even have a real first name," Kat said with exasperation. Hale smiled smugly, but Kat ignored it and said, "Am I even a little bit close?"
"I can neither confirm nor deny this statement." Hale said, still smiling.
"Have I guessed your middle name yet?" Kat pressed.
"Nope."
"Seriously?! I've guessed every name from Wyatt to Waldo to Wellington to Wesley, and I haven't come even close?! I've been through eight hundred and forty-nine names – everything that I could find online!"
"It's not a name that you can find online," Hale said, still smiling as he sat back in the plush red chair. He folded his arms, radiating smugness.
Kat thought for a moment, and then remembered Hale's smile when she'd said that he probably didn't even have a first name. That wasn't a smile of amusement – that was a smile like he was laughing at a secret of his. And she knew. As her smile grew, she announced her assumption to him, and enjoyed as his expression went from secretively amused to surprised shock in an instant. His mouth opened and closed, reminding Kat of a fish. She grinned at him and said:
"I'm tempted to take out a camera and video this, just for this moment."
Then suddenly, Hale's shocked expression disappeared and he smiled again.
"Well," he said thoughtfully, "Now you can guess my middle name."
Kat was feeling lucky now, so she said impulsively, "Wenutu?"
Hale laughed. "No."

So…you guys like? I thought of it while I was browsing, and I just wanted to type it out super quick before I forgot about it. I know it's not too detailed, but I wrote it in like, ten minutes, and frankly, I'm fine leaving it the way that it is.
Also, for any of you wondering, Wenutu is a real name – it means "clear sky" to Native Americans. Also, I left the first name up to your guys' imagination…otherwise, when Ally Carter finally reveals his first name, it won't be wrong…:) Who's excited for Perfect Scoundrels coming out February 5th?! I am. Maybe, since it's centered around Hale, his name will be revealed then…let's hope! :)
