"We have a problem!" A cat yowled, running into the Clan camp. His massive muscles tensed and he shifted his weight on his right side when he stopped. Amber eyes scanned around for his leader.
A black cat padded her way out of her den and made her way to the cat. "What is it?" She meowed, her brown tipped tail twitching with anticipation.
"I just went out to patrol our border," Panted the cat, licking his gray paw, "And checked our fresh-kill pile. We have no prey on our territory!"
The leader's green eyes showed furious anger, "What?" Her whiskers twitched. Unusually large claws scraped away the soil under her, "Our Clan is sick, we need prey for the ill cats."
"I thought the shortage of food was getting smaller, but I didn't think the prey would be all gone!" The cat yowled. "What are we to do?"
"We shall wait until tonight." She spoke venomously, "We'll talk at the gathering."
"What shall we do about our sick and hungry?" The cat asked, looking around at his clanmates.
"Let our medicine cat tend to the sick. Gather a hunting patrol and look for anything to add to the fresh-kill pile." The leader spoke, twitching her brown-tipped ears, "We need to feed the Clan, so go on the borders and hunt on their land. Don't get caught." She growled, turning her body to enter her den again.
"Yes, I'll gather a hunting patrol!" The cat turned to go pick out the cats.
The cat laid down on her soft bedding, looking out of the entrance at her dieing Clan. She knew this Clan had tough times, where the leader drove them into danger. She didn't want to push her cats, though it helps make them stronger, but the Clan was dieing from Greencough and starvation. Not to mention several cats have turned up dead. Not just from her Clan, but she has found loners and kittypets killed around the territory.
She lifted her head and let out a long yawn before resting her head on her paws. She thought about what she was going to say at the gathering. She knew the other Clans wouldn't like this Clan hunting on their grounds, but what else was the Clan to do?
