Jester sat in the forest, his hands burnt from the sparks that exploded from his work.
"Oh behave!" He shouted banging a hammer, and flicking more switches. He shook his head in desperate aggravation as he began to move faster, pushing buttons, connecting wires, all the while cooing and pleading her to work. Yet still she resisted his efforts, and refused to function.
"Agh…" He cried angrily as he banged his head to the wall closest. "Why!" He asked, not really expecting an answer. The abuse to his head finally stopped as he turned around to face his current dilemma.
"How is it," He began, pointing his hammer to the heart. "You can do everything except start up, Hmm?" Once more, this was a rhetorical question, as an answer was quite obviously not coming, much as he hoped one would.
Many years ago he had the idea that this particular project would take no longer then a few months or a year at the most. Thinking back he realized what a silly notion that was. But as they were coming up on the 10th year of attempting to get her started, he began to think all his work had been in vain. Nevertheless, he kept working, always bringing forward that now tender hopeful thought from the back of his mind that clearly said "This time she'll work." Though, more and more he wished rather then believed this thought to be true.
Sighing, he rubbed his hand through his gnarly, unkempt hair, and walked back to his unfinished work.
"I crashed you 17 years ago, searched for you for 7 years, and have spent 10 years breaking my back trying to fix you, and I am not giving up yet." He cried out, and began once more rummaging, banging, flicking, connecting, and twisting as much as he could, only to be greeted by a loud bang, and some small puffs. He bit his tongue as another shock spiraled up his arm.
A long gasp of air escaped his mouth as he slapped the back of his heads and spun round full circle.
"You are just being rude now!" He shouted and finally began walking for the door. " I will be back" He growled as he stormed out the door. Upon exiting he slammed the door as hard and as loud as he could, partly because he was aggravated, and partly because he wanted to see if the force from his slam would make her start. Sadly, it did not. The only thing that was achieved was a loud bang that most likely echoed for miles.
Jester sighed in defeat, and lovingly rubbed the door of his beloved T.A.R.D.I.S. in apology before walking away. He could always try again tomorrow.
