For the tenth time in as many minutes, he glanced up at the clock. Lucius had been in St. Mungo's for five hours, his usual sleek hair dishevelled. He recalled how he had gotten himself into this position. It all began that one breakfast nine months ago. He was enjoying his toast, humming a tune. His life was always an easy one, the generational Malfoy wealth meant one thing for Lucius: that he never had to worry about anything. So, when Dobby announced to him that his wife wouldn't be joining him as she was, in Dobby's words, 'Busy sticking her head in the toilet, Sir', he felt his whole world spin.

Lucius got up and hurried to an ill-taken Narcissa slumped against the bathroom wall. He looked inquisitively at her, and never having seen his wife in such a state where the colour of her cheeks had drained from her face, felt at once that pang of worry – a feeling he never thought he'd ever feel in his life. Lucius summoned immediately for an emergency Healer.

'Your wife is pregnant, Mr Malfoy,' the healer squealed.

Narcissa squeezed Lucius' hand, her eyes beaming. He leaned back on his chair, relieved that it wasn't something else. 'We're going to be prepared, Cissy, our first child!' he happily whispered to her.

Those nine months was a particular torture to Dobby who had to double his energy entertaining the demands of the new parents. 'Whatever the Misses is carrying must be the Devil!' he muttered to himself and after saying that, regretted it instantly and beat himself with a wooden spoon.

Lucius walked back and forth, a thousand thoughts disturbed him. He was worried if the delivery didn't go well, he was worried if they had taken all precautions during the child's development, he worried endlessly. Finally, he thought it best to get some sleep so he laid on a chair and snoozed away in exhaustion.

He felt a jab on his stomach and awoke to see the Healer who attended his wife poking him. Lucius got up instantly, 'Well!?' She smiled at him and lead him to Narcissa. In her hands, she held a baby boy wrapped in green towel.

'Oh, Cissy!' Lucius kissed his wife and child. The Healers who so often saw the Malfoys in their usual arrogant expression were surprised to see that Malfoys are indeed, capable of expressing genuine happiness.

'Isn't Draco handsome? He's so much like you,' she cooed, gently rocking the baby in her arms.

'Draco? Another blood constellation name, Cissy?'

'I carried him for nine months I'll name him the planets if I want to!' His wife shot back at him.

He laughed and in that one moment, Lucius did not matter how unkempt he looked or how that smug expression he always wore had broken into a wide smile. All that mattered was one thing, that the little boy in his loving wife's arm was his world, his love, their life.
