Another Saturday Night by RGoodfellow64
NOTICE/DISCLAIMER/SAD TO REPORT: These characters are not mine, the show is not mine, ABC is not mine, if it was I'd make changes and have Castle on all the time. But alas, everything belongs to ABC.
Sitting on the sofa, wearing her baggy sweats and a book in her hands she realizes she's been looking at the same sentence for the last 5 minutes. Her mind isn't on the book, she is thinking 'when did this become normal?'
What happened to the wild child who hit the wildest bars, the more outrageous the better, with heels to the sky and a dress up to here? The woman who walked into the place and owned most of the men in a matter of minutes? Who danced, and drank and flirted till closing? 'Yeah, but I arrived alone and left alone, there wasn't anything or anyone worth keeping there.'
What happened to the woman who had to let out all that steam at the end of the week?
When did things start to change?
What was it Lanie had said? Oh yeah, "Who says romance is dead?" "I do, every Saturday Night" came out. When did those wild nights become boring?
When HE came into my life.
That's when a good time became having a cup of coffee, or listening to an aside comment to lighten a very heavy moment. When a burger and fries became more enjoyable than the fanciest restaurant.
When did life become comfortable, safe and warm? When did a great time consist of sitting on the couch, with a glass of wine, reading a book? A very good book, but all of his are.
She shifted her eyes to her left and saw him with feet on the coffee table, still typing into his laptop. When did the most important moments in her life become sitting with him and not saying a word?
When she gave him her heart.
Since that night her mother was murdered she had kept it tightly hidden away, but little by little he got closer till she trusted him with it. And she found there was room in hers for his, because he gave his to her just as fully, just as completely, and just as forever.
She felt a smile tug the corners of her mouth. That wild child isn't gone, and she hasn't been tamed. In fact...a warm feeling spread through her and she knew the fire could be seen in her eyes. Slowly, carefully, so he won't see, she puts her bookmark in place. The smile becomes wicked as she slams the book closed! Next to her she can feel him jump and she turns and captures him again with just a look. Yes, the leopardess is about to pounce!
Just another Saturday night.
