"Sweet dreams, Jack" Pitch whispered.
It was surprisingly easy to sneak up on him whilst he was sleeping. It had only been 6 months since the Guardians had seemingly defeated Pitch.
He chuckled at the memory of that evening on the field, the Guardians looking so triumphant when his nightmares surrounded him. They didn't know how much they were a part of Pitch, just a manifestation of his will, or how much effort it took to make it look convincing.
Pict genuinely wanted to defeat the Guardians, to put the Man in the Moon in his place; punishment for creating him and then leaving him to be forgotten. That was the plan, until he saw the look in Jack's face when Pitch offered to join forces.
If only he had just been a bit quicker in making the offer. He knew he had messed up, after all Jack was just a teen. Pitch should have been less abrupt. But still, even with the shock of Pitch attacking him, Jack was still thinking it over.
It was obvious that Jack wasn't used to letting others in. Pitch was determined to manipulate that. Pitch's nightmares had reported back that both North and Toothina had offered him a place to stay in their own vast castles and Jack had turned them both down claiming that he was used to having his own space.
But Pitch was in a unique position, to see Jack's dreams, and Jack's nightmares. He knew Jack wasn't ready to completely believe that all this was real. That he had a new family and children finally believed in him. Jack's biggest fear was waking up and finding out it had all been pretend.
And that was exactly what Pitch was planning on using to bring Jack to his side, among other things.
