Wow I have had a lot of time on my hands lately for writing. It's been nice, haha.

Anyway, here is another short one shot based on a scene form the first HTTYD. This time, during Hiccup and Toothless' first successful flight. Inner thoughts and feelings commence.

(Btw Part of My Mind is still going on! I just have some other short ideas I want to put out alongside it)

Anyway, enjoy!

Flying was not something meant for humans. People had no wings, no aerodynamic form, no stabilizing tail. They were meant to run on the ground, fight from the surface, not the air.

Dragons were not meant to be grounded. They had all the features for flying, and it was only in their nature to take to the skies. They were strongest in the air, and it was the ability that defined their species.

Yet here they were.

There was nothing Hiccup had experienced in his life that was like flying. The wind flowing around him, the cold bite of the northern air on his face, the light feeling in his gut when they dove through open skies.

When his cheat sheet flew away, and instinct took over, it was almost ethereal. It was like Hiccup had been born to fly. He no longer felt the pedals under his feet as he and Toothless wove through sea stacks and skimmed the ocean surface. It was as if all other forces of the world had dissipated. Flying was freedom for Hiccup.

It was also freedom for Toothless. He knew the human hadn't meant to hurt him, and the fact that he'd spent so much of his time working to help him fly again meant a lot. And to be honest, the weight of the boy on his back was more comforting than Toothless had thought it would be. He liked it.

Maybe the world said it was wrong. The two species had long been mortal enemies, sworn to fight and defend from each other. Maybe they'd be disowned, or worse, if someone found out about their forbidden friendship. But they didn't care.

It was at that moment, while the two of them soared through the stars for the first time, that something changed. They were no longer two separate beings, human and dragon, boy and Night Fury, Hiccup and Toothless. They were together now, flying like a single being, symbiotic and free.

As one.
