As I walked along the rows of shops in Changi Airport Terminal 3, I couldn't help but feel a little sad that I was leaving Singapore. For the past 8 years I spent in this city, I learnt many things and made many friends and lifelong sisters. I smiled to myself. If would've been much more enjoyable had I not been missing London the whole time. I had been waiting years for this day, the day I'd move back 'home' again.
I reached the gates, quickly checked in and settled down in my seat. Very soon, the aeroplane was up in the air. I was seated in an aisle seat and thankfully no-one was sitting on either side of me. I dug my iPod out of my bag and put my earphones in, slowly drifting to sleep, the many sleepless nights finally taking its toll.
"Excuse me miss. Wake up, wake up." an Irish voice said.
I opened my eyes and found myself looking into two ocean blue orbs. The boy moved away slightly and smiled.
"It's lunch now. Do you want your meal?"
Only then did I notice an air stewardess next to me, holding a tray full of food.
"Oh yeah. Thanks." I said to the air stewardess.
She placed the tray down before carrying on down the aisle. I turned to look at the boy next to me, who was now wolfing down his meal with such energy anyone would've thought he had never had food before. He had dirty blonde hair, as if it had been dyed. He was wearing a red Jack Wills shirt and some faded jeans. I knew this boy somehow. His eyes, his hair, it all seemed so familiar.
The boy noticed my staring and smiled, revealing his braces.
"Sorry I woke you up. I just wasn't sure if you'd want your meal anyway."
"That's alright. I would've woken up anyway." I replied, smiling.
He thrust out his hand.
"I'm Niall. Nice to meet you."
Niall Horan. Of course. How could I forget. The carefree Irish boy from One Direction. I was starstruck for a moment and it took a few minutes for me to regain my composure. I smiled at his gesture and placed my hand in his.
"I'm Cassie. Nice to meet you too."
He smiled at me, shaking my hand. His hand was warm and soft, his grip on mine was firm yet not too firm. In a way, it felt like I was safe.
"I think we can stop shaking hands now." Niall said, chuckling.
I blushed, hoping he wouldn't see.
"I guess you're wondering why I'm suddenly sitting next to you." Niall said.
I nodded.
"Well, lets just say the person I was seated next to wasn't so nice. So the air stewardess asked me if I wanted to change seat, so I moved here. I'm sorry I woke you up, you can go back to sleep now, if you want."
"It's okey. I'm not really tired." I replied.
I noticed him eyeing my tray of food, the one before his cleared of food.
"You can have my meal if you wanted. I'm not really keen on aeroplane food."
I laughed as I watched his face light up as if it was Christmas Day and he was just 10 years old.
"Thanks!" Niall said cheerily, before continuing to demolish whatever could be eaten on my tray.
I looked down at my iPod. It had been roughly 5 hours since the plane took off from Singapore.
"Hmmmm. So you're a directioner, huh?"
I jumped, surprised at the sound of such a sweet voice near my ears.
"Sorry I scared you." Niall said, smiling like a Cheshire cat.
"It's alright. I was day-dreaming, so...yeah." I said, looking down at my hands.
As I played with my fingers, embarrassed, I found myself wishing the flight would never end.
