Dark Side of the Moon
A hardening visage,
As black as night.
On the moon's dark side,
Hidden from sunlight.
...
From within the gloom,
She sometimes gazes at stars.
And at the blue world below,
From here, it seems so far.
...
But the stars grow brighter,
Her shackles unchained.
Her intended prison crumbles,
She's no longer detained.
...
She stands on her hooves,
She flexes her wings.
Dark magic flows freely,
To vengeance she clings.
...
A thousand years gone,
But very soon,
So too will the Earth,
Be like the dark of the moon.

You know, come to think of it...not sure exactly how the stars "aided" in Nightmare Moon's escape. And since Twilight's cutie mark is centered around stars themselves...meh. I'm willing to put overanalysis to the side of need be.
