Summary: My first Silmarillion fan fic and non-LOTR fanfic—a prose poem about Elrond and Elros.
Inseparable, Even Unto Death
I chose the way of the Firstborn,
The way of immortality,
Of unending life.
oOo
My choice was not an easy one,
But a hard one,
One that took much thought.
oOo
I wonder what it would be like if I chose something different,
Like my brother.
oOo
Had I chosen a mortal's life,
My life on this earth would be short,
Ephemeral.
oOo
But I do not regret my choice.
It was destiny.
—Elrond
TTTTTTTTTTTT
I chose the way of the Secondborn,
The way of mortality,
Of a short life.
oOo
My choice was not an easy one,
But a hard one,
One that took much thought.
oOo
I wonder what it would be like if I chose something different,
Like my brother.
oOo
Had I chose an immortal's life,
My life on earth would be long,
Everlasting.
oOo
But I do not regret my choice.
It was destiny.
—Elros
TTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Though we chose two different roads,
Two different lives,
Many things do not change.
oOo
We are still brothers,
Bound by blood,
By our oaths.
oOo
Though the years will stretch long,
Though a time may come when we can no longer meet,
We are inseparable,
Even unto death.
oOo
We will never say goodbye,
Only a last farewell.
—Elrond and Elros
The End
