Today was the day that Argus' sister, Amelia, came back from school. She had been away all year at Hogwarts, a school for witches and wizards. Argus never got a letter like his sister did; he was what Amelia called a squib. He was half a wizard, not really able to do the advanced magic that his sister could do. But he was determined to become a full wizard.
A car pulled up in the driveway, and Argus' sister and father stepped out. Argus ran outside.
"Amelia! Amelia you're back!"
"Argus! I've missed you so much!" Amelia said, and she embraced her brother in a bone crushing hug.
Argus helped Amelia back inside and helped her unpack her bags, waiting for her to perform some sort of magic.
He quickly became impatient, "Amelia can you please do magic? You said last year that the day you get back is the only day you can do magic all summer long! Please Amelia? For me?" Argus begged.
She sighed, "Argus I'm really tired and I—"
"Amelia please!" he asked again.
"Fine" Amelia said. She took a flower bud out of the vase on her nightstand and grabbed her wand out of her suitcase and waved it in the air "floreria" the flower bloomed in her hand. Argus watched, fascinated.
"I'm going to go get food, ok?" Amelia asked. Argus nodded in response
When his sister left the room he took a bud out of the vase and held it in his palm, then took his sisters wand from where she put it down. "Floreria" he repeated, the bud shivered. He tried again and again, for a full hour, but nothing happened aside from the bud slightly moving.
I won't give up. Argus thought, I won't give up even if it takes me my whole life I will become a wizard.
Argus Filch stayed true to his promise to himself, he kept trying to become a wizard for all his life and is still trying today.
