Courtney Taylor had always used her dreams to escape. She used them to escape the reality that was her life. There was never anything worth anything in her life. In her dreams she could be whoever she wanted, not who everyone else wanted her to be. Dreams were her escape from reality.
Courtney layed on her back, staring up at the black ceiling. It was white in the light, but late at night, with the rest of the room in darkness, it was black.
The sixteen-year-old couldn't fall asleep. She had tried and tried, but nothing came of it. There was nothing she wanted to dream about, nothing she wanted to explore in her imagination. Nothing at all sprung to mind when she tried to drift off into the world of dream.
Brushing a strand of silky brown hair from her face, Courtney turned on her side. The girl plumped up her pillow and hit her head into it. Closing her eyes, there was only one image she could see; Duncan.
Duncan was a new boyfriend. The two had been going out for a week, and, one now, was reality sinking in. Courtney actually had a boyfriend, She finally had someone she could talk to. Someone to care for her. Someone who would always be there, no matter what.
The bright flashing light and loud vibrating of Courtney's cell phone caused to reopen her eyes. Reaching out to her night stand, Courtney grabbed her phone and flipped open the screen. A text.
Half-asleep, she clicked read and up popped the message;
Hey beautiful. I Love You.

Courtney couldn't help but smile to herself. That text may have only been six words long, but it meant the world to her. Turning back onto her back, Courtney tried to sleep again. But she couldn't now, because she knew there was someone out there thinking of her. For once in her life, reality was better than her dreams.
I wanted a nice lil' oneshot and I got this...Not quite sure what to say about it ;) LOL!
