Everything had seemed ordinary that day.
He had gotten up as usual and had done his morning chores. Going to school the only thing noteworthy that had happened was a small accident in lab. Even the walk home and afternoon chores had passed by without incident. It was that night as the sun began to lower that everything began to change. At first he thought it was a storm that was making it seem so dark and why the lights began to flicker.
Looking out the window to see what he had thought was a bolt of lightening he froze and stared in open mouth shock at the sky above. The stars, seemingly hundreds of them, were falling from the sky. It was like a rainstorm of glowing light, yet he couldn't help the feeling of tightness that descended upon his heart as inch by rapid inch the sky became void of light and the shadows upon the earth that were under the starless part seemed to thrive and pulse.
As the darkness came closer towards his home he saw the shadows take on forms and eery yellow eyes started to shine within those figures. He tried to move away from the window and find a more secure place to be, but those feral eyes seemed to keep him pinned as whispered voices whirled in his mind and ears. Those hypnotic eyes were the reason why he never noticed the sudden dull pain in his chest.
It didn't seem to bother him as a shadowy tendril holding a glowing crystal heart tore itself outside of his chest.
He fell into the darkness silently.
