Disclaimer: I don't own CSI: NY. I do own an adorable daschund who likes to keep me up at four in the morning, which is why this was written at all.
Season 2: Episode 21 (All Access Epilogue)
She stood in her bathroom, staring down at the blood still pooled in the tub. It was almost surreal, looking at it. She didn't remember cutting herself while trying to escape her bindings. All she could remember was the intense fear and panic. Or maybe she was just repressing the memory…would she wake up one morning and find the haze in her mind had cleared enough to remember just how the razor blade felt as it cut through her skin?
She blinked rapidly and brought her hand up to her forehead, inadvertently brushing along the cut on her cheek. Despite all of the pain she'd been through, the twinge that resulted somehow felt ten times worse than all of it. She couldn't stand to be in the room anymore and walked out with a shake of her head.
She picked up the lamp and chair that had been knocked over, and couldn't help but stare down at the blood soaked into the carpet. His blood.
'And some of yours too.' A voice whispered in her mind.
Together, mixing. Part of him was still trapped here, and part of her was trapped with him. She wiped at her eye before a tear could form and ran her hands up against her neck. Suddenly all of it was too terrible to comprehend. She couldn't stay here.
"If you don't wanna go home, I certainly understand that. Your place is still a mess. I'll check you into a hotel…long as you'd like. Park view? Done."
Ten minutes later she was sitting beside Mac in his Chevy Suburban. She gave him the name of the hotel she wanted to stay at for the night and, if need be, longer. It wasn't park view. If Mac noticed (and she doubted he didn't) that the particular hotel was only a couple buildings down from his apartment, he didn't comment on it.
An old Greek proverb came into her thoughts, unbidden.
Even a wolf will not stay—Where nearby sounds a roar to deter hope of prey.
The only reason why this isn't a one-shot is because I think it's too short for that. So instead I'll just use this as a place to put any CSI: NY ideas I can't get out of my mind. Not that I'm expecting many…I just saw this episode and couldn't resist. Anywho, ciao~
