Chapter 1 – One Fateful Day
Rizembul Village, April 1915. It was a sunny and calm day. Edward Elric was drawing a transmutation circle on the grass. Alphonse was wondering what he was doing.
"Brother?" Al asked, "What are you doing?"
"It's something that will help me travel back in time- and that's that. It has to work this time." Edward's new transmutation circle would allow him to travel back in time. "This is it- everything's all set. I'm ready.
With that, Edward, set his hands on the bottom of the circle, and beams of energy began to emanate from the circle. All was normal for a minute, but then, suddenly, the beams turned red. Edward was slowly vanishing from existence. "Al! HELP ME! SAVE ME ANY WAY YOU CAN, AL!" "HANG ON, BROTHER, I'LL SAVE YOU!" It was too late. Before long, a puff of smoke and the number '99' in smoke was seen, and Edward gone.
"BROTHER!" Alphonse wept, wondering what had happened to his brother. Alphonse had tried, but there was nothing he could do about his brother. The big question was, where was he now? Where did he vanish off to?
77 Years Later- Monday, May 20, 1991Four o'clock AM. With no one in the basement, Edward Elric found himself in the basement of a weird looking house. Where am I? What did I do? And how did I get here? He thought. Then he saw a picture on the wall of a familiar face. It's Winry! He walked up to the picture, and took a good look at it. It is here! This must be the house of her descendants! He went upstairs to find more clues about Winry, who had long since died in the interim. Suddenly, he found two figures, with flashlights, surrounding him. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" The two said…….. "I noticed this picture of Winry on the wall in your basement, and….." Edward paused. "Are you the Rockbells?" "Yes," said the mother, "but the name 'Rockbell' hasn't been used for quite sometime here. We're the Shores, Elizabeth, and Phillip. Hello." Edward took the time to shake Elizabeth and Phillip's hands.
"How did you get here?" Edward tried his best to explain the situation. "Well, I was here because I lost my way home." "I see that," Elizabeth convincingly said. "Tell you what, why don't you try calling your mother, or if she can't come to the phone, we'll take you home." "OK." Edward grabbed a phone book lying on a kitchen table. "Elric, Elric, Elric…….. hmm……….. there's only one Elric in the whole phone book, and….." He found it.
Edward quickly dialed the number. A few dial tones followed. Unfortunately….. "Hello, you have reached the residence of Michael and Sandra Elric. We cannot be available for your call right now, but if you can leave a message, we shall answer your call as soon as possible. Thank you very much." Dammit! What the heck is this? He hung up the phone.
Then, he noticed a bunch of automail parts in a closet. Edward sighed. "Miss Shore?" "Yes?" "Are those automail parts I see over there?" "Yes, they are. Like the Rockbells before us, we specialize in automail. But, automail has improved dramatically since the time the Rockbells were around. Now, it looks more real than ever, you can't tell if it's a human hand or automail. Here, I'd like to introduce to you, our daughter, Michelle." Michelle Shore? Wow! Michelle was a spitting image of Winry, but unlike Winry before her, she wore glasses. "Hello, I'm Michelle- pleased to meet you…….." "Edward." "Edward, right." "You look a bit tired. There's a bed in the other room, and I'd like you to sleep there for the rest of the night."
Ed sighed. "OK….." Edward then cleaned himself up, and with that, was off to bed.
