1993, a village 20 miles outside Baghdad, Iraq. A group of mercenaries were attacking the village. One of the villagers ran into a small, early 13th century temple. He alerted the keeper. "They've come for it!" He shouted in Arabic as he locked it.
"They have before." The keeper replied.
"Not like this."
"Let them come. They'll never find it." That is when the building started to rumble, like a small earthquake. Once it stopped, the door and the stone around it came crashing down on top of the guy who came running to the temple. The stone crushed his skull killing him. The keeper sees a large metal and concludes that this is what they used to knock down the wall. That is when a car with a strange logo on it pulls up. That is when a man in green steps out.
In the temple, the mercenaries were trying to open a coffin. One of their leaders shouted at them. "Open it! Quickly before he…" That is when the man in green appears. He has an Asian style mustache and haircut. The man is revealed to be Henri Ducard, also known as Ra's al-Ghul.
"It has taken me a long time to find this place. You should be commended." He said to the keeper. "Help him up." A few mercenaries help him to his feet, but at the same time restrain him. "I think that you are a man of great vision. And in this way, we are very much alike."
"I am nothing like you." The keeper replied.
"No. Of course not, but, what others see as superstition, you and I know to be science."
"What you seek is just a legend."
"Then why make such an effort to conceal it?" Henri walks over to the coffin and pushes away the stone lid with his bare hands, something that not even four of his mercenaries could do. He picks up a white cube inside it. "The Cosmic Cube is the jewel of the New Gods." Henri drops the cube and it shatters like glass. The keeper looks at him in shock. "It is not something one buries. But, I think it is close, yes?"
"I cannot help you."
"No. But maybe you can help your village. You must have some friends out there. Some little grandchildren, perhaps? I have no need for them to die." The keeper looks and sees several armed soldiers with guns ready. His eye glances to a wooden wall carving. Ducard notices this. He turns around and walks over to it. "This is a carving of the Tree of Eden. If I am not mistaken, I believe the Norse called it Yggdrasil. Guardian of wisdom." Ducard glances at a small wooden button. "And fate." He presses it and a small wooden box has popped out. He pulls out the wooden box and opens it. A bright white light, whiter than snow, shines upon him. "And those idiots throughout the ages have dug for trinkets in the desert." He glances at the keeper. "You have never seen this, have you?"
"It is not for the eyes of mortal men."
"The exact opposite of me." Ducard closes the box and walks to one of his commanders. "Give the order to open fire."
"Yes sir."
"Fool!" The keeper said. "You cannot control the power you hold! You will burn!"
"Tell that to someone who cares." Ducard pulls out a sword and strikes the keeper down. Ducard then walks away as guns could be heard in the streets.
