Hi again. :) This is a little two shot that I wrote up this week. It's about Jack's and Hotch's thoughts during episode 100. There is a second chapter to this that I'll post Friday or Saturday.

Thank you to Flashpenguin who beta'd this story! she always does a great job with my stories.

Gunfire signified the end of Haley's life and Aaron Hotchner threw his phone on the dashboard, and pressed his foot on the gas pedal down, praying for a miracle that the shots hadn't been fatal.

"Please God." He begged mentally, forgetting that he wasn't religious. "Please, keep Jack safe."

A picture came into his mind, his son's frown as Jack had said goodbye to his daddy in the hospital a few months' before. Now Jack would have to say a goodbye to another parent.

"You didn't sign on for this." Aaron remembered saying.

"Neither did you." His recollection of Haley's reply was different, she didn't sound accusatory. She sounded understanding. It was as if her trip to the next life had made everything clear.

"Please." He didn't realize he was speaking to a deity he didn't believe in. "Please God, let him hide. Let Jack remember!"

Mentally Aaron began profiling Foyet again, hoping there was something in the profile he'd had missed; something that would tell Aaron if Jack was safe from Foyet. As he realized that he hadn't been able to come up with anything he turned a corner into his old neighborhood. Parking haphazardly, he ran into the house.

Within ten minutes it was over; Foyet was dead and the team was there. Aaron pushed himself out of Morgan's arms and ran upstairs. He knew Foyet was dead and that he couldn't hurt Jack, but there was still worry. When Aaron had been checking the house, he hadn't gone into the office or Jack's room.

The only thing that would alleviate his fears would be solid proof. Aaron hesitated a moment before opening the bench, hoping against hope.

Aaron breathed a sigh of relief as he heard Jacks voice:

"I worked the case Daddy, just like you said."
