-1Note: Bells and names property of Garth Nix -- poem by ME. So don't steal. Grr. Enjoy, and review honestly.

Seven bells, one purpose;

To put the dead to sleep;

And the makers, long forgotten -

For their memory, we shall weep.

To Ranna, the sleep bringer -

Feel a lullaby's wrath;

Shrink from the sunlight,

Walk a dead man's path.

Mosrael - the Waker,

The Dead walk from their graves;

Heedless to the gate's waterfall,

The bitter river's waves.

Kibeth - the Walker,

Walk on feet long dead;

And for those who come with spitefulness,

Be careful where you tread.

Dyrim - the Musical,

For sound long left behind;

And those who may speak unruly,

Silence will always bind.

Belgaer - the Thinker,

For memories restored,

Independence, individuality,

Talk of your own accord.

Saraneth - the Binder;

Bind you to my will;

You are my puppet to do as I wish;

To serve, to be, to kill.

Astrael, the Sorrowful,

We are dead to your call.

Your song rings clearly through the eve,

As our bodies fall.

Glassy eyes to dawn's first light -

Does it all come down to this?

The battle of the living goes on,

Until death's final kiss.
