The Similarities between Star Wars and Harry Potter
Star Wars and Harry Potter are two popular series among kids, teens, and adults alike. But while sitting at my laptop, one late night in which I should have been sleeping, I realised how similar the two were.
Right off the bat, the main antagonist has had a terrible childhood. For Anakin Skywalker/ Darth Vader, he was a slave on the desert planet of Tatooine. For Tom Riddle/ Voldemort, he was an orphan with a drunken matron. Then came along a person from an entirely different world and told the antagonist they were something special. Like in The Phantom Menace when Qui-Gon Jinn says that Anakin is the Chosen One, or in The Half-Blood Prince, when Dumbledore says Tom is a wizard.
When the antagonist gets to the determined place, they both stand out among the other students, but they are somewhat alone and tend to stay away from the others, even though the others think that they are the greatest.
Finally, when the antagonist turns to the Dark Side, they give up their given name and adopt a more sinister sounding name i.e. Darth Vader or Voldemort. And then they start slaughtering those of their own kind, except for their followers.
After a bit of time, the protagonist, in Star Wars, Luke Skywalker and in Harry Potter, Harry Potter, is born and both are somehow connected to the antagonist. Luke Skywalker is Anakin's son, and Voldemort had killed both Harry Potter's parents, but was unable to kill Harry. Both are hidden from the antagonist and both are protected by love.
When the time comes for the protagonist to find their way into the world that they have been hidden from, a person that was present at their birth tells them and both Harry and Luke had been told that their parents had died in some other way than they actually were killed.
Later on in the plot, the mentor (Ben Kenobi in Luke's case, Dumbledore in Harry's) are killed. This is when the two stories split off. Although the Star Wars saga is complete, the seventh Harry Potter book is due to come out.
By comparing the two series, we can make some predictions for what will happen in Harry Potter. Voldemort will most likely be killed by Harry or he will turn back to the good side. Also, Harry will become the new Headmaster of Hogwarts once he graduates. Professor Snape will turn back to the light side and stay for good, regretting his murder of Dumbledore, and Dumbledore will be able to communicate with Harry in ghost form.
It makes you wonder, if the author of Harry Potter actually copied the director of Star War's ideas.
Author's Notes: This totally useless essay was written by Zane. You may or may not agree with my theories. That is fine. Please tell me what you think and whether or not my predictions will come true.
