Chapter One:-
"What are you doing?" Hunter cried. Bree lunged at him and grabbed his shirt. One of the buttons snapped off as he pulled away from her.
"I love you Hunter, please be with me." She steadied herself, tears beginning to pour down her face as she saw the bewilderment on his face. Seizing her last chance, she reached forwards and tenderly caressed his cheek. He didn't move, stunned by her behaviour, and she pressed her lips to his. Her tongue slid between his lips and he pushed her, hard. She fell backwards, her tears wetting the dark tendrils of hair which had fallen across her face.
"Please," she begged. "I love you, I can't live without you." He picked her up off the ground and set her on her feet. "Don't you love me?" He just stared at her, his green eyes like murky puddles, clouded with confusion.
She ran past him, intending to go into the living room, but he caught her arm and she swung round to face him, her eyes pleading.
"Hunter?" Morgan's voice called from the direction of the kitchen. "Is everything alright?" Bree's face twisted into an expression of disgust.
"It's fine, don't worry." Hunter replied, his eyes never leaving Bree's face. She was still looking at him, trying to conceal her hatred. It was as though her face was slowly being covered by a mask, her expression changing to one of sheer lust.
"What is she doing here?" Her insecurity slipped through, only for a second, but Hunter noticed. The mask was firmly in place once again.
"Morgan is here studying. We have been looking at the uses of plants in healing spells. She's showing great promise as…" Bree cut him off sharply, recognising his attempt to distract her.
"I don't care." She couldn't resist one snide remark. "She's not the fantastic witch you think she is. She's cast a spell on you so that you'll like her." Something inside Hunter snapped.
"Morgan is a brilliant witch. Don't you dare speak about her in that way; do you really have that little respect for your friend?" He spat the words at her. "I'm surprised she's still your friend after all you've put her through. You're lucky she doesn't hate you, since you seem to completely disregard her feelings."
Seeing the reaction that Morgan's name had on him, Bree changed tact. "Don't you care about me? We have a connection, a real connection. We're soul mates! I've never been so sure of anything before, but I know it. It's right, we're meant to be together."
She threw herself at Hunter and clung to him, leaning up to kiss him again. Hunter was looking over her head, his eyes sparkling with love and passion. She had done it. Hunter was hers.
"No you're not Bree." Bree turned quickly. Morgan was watching her, head cocked to one side, her arms folded. Her lips were pursed and her brow was furrowed into a frown. "You aren't soul mates. You aren't meant to be together."
Hunter carefully disentangled himself from Bree. Morgan moved towards him and rested a hand on his shoulder. "It's taken me too long to realise, but you aren't worth my friendship. You're too wrapped up in your own feelings to care about anyone else's," she looked up at Hunter and smiled, "least of all mine or Hunter's."
"Go home Bree." Hunter said gently. They watched her together as she walked down the drive to her car. "Thank you," she turned back slightly, despair shining in her eyes at the sound of Hunter's voice.
"You've made us appreciate what we have." Morgan added, and they went back into the house, closing the door gently behind them.
A/N Let me know if you want me to continue. This is an idea that I've had for a while so I thought I'd try it.
