Magnets

She sat in the rain bending the water to form hearts. Tears falling down the graceful water benders face and entwining with rain. Love had caught her by surprise and now she was consumed. Her love was untouchable and destiny had placed a wall between them. He is her greatest enemy's son... and he was her enemy. He hurt her caused her pain. He healed the wounds over time and learned to trust him with the people she cared about. Now he was friends with them and making them tea. He helped her brother, brought back her father. He felt the same about his mother the same way she did about her's.

She watched him all the time, his movements, and his smile. He was so perfect, to her his scar wasn't a flaw. She hated herself for feeling this way. It hurt so much, yet it felt so right... She coudn't tell him though, it wasn't meant to be. When the war would be over he would leave. He would be the new fire lord, and she would never see him again. Worst of all he didn't seem to feel the same.

She had to escape, just for a moment. She went out to a secluded place in the temple. It a place she found she come to relax and be alone with her thoughts. Now she was out in the rain crying. Silently she began to speak placing together a poem to release her feelings. The words just came to her and fit perfectly:

Rain drops hit the ground,

Frozen hearts whisper sweetly.

It's hard to express the love I found,

This burning passion is filling me completely.

Do you know prince, what you gave me?

This fire, you set ablaze?

The waters in my soul have heated, you see.

Now I'm lost in this maze.

Never the less, we are opposite poles,

We are pulled together.

The others feeling are alike in there feelings, leaving holes.

Their likeness is what repels us further.

We are magnets,

Trying to reach.

Separated sets,

I'm out in the sea and you're on the beach.

She let the water hearts she was bending splash to the floor. Her tears were uncontrollable now... She couldn't stop so she covered her face with her hands. She was so consumed by her sorrow that she couldn't hear the soft sound of footsteps.

"Katara..." Her heart stopped and her eyes widened. She knew that voice, that soft voice... She knew it's fiery warmth.

"Z-Zuko..." she replied as she turned to face him. There he was standing before her reaching out once again. He had a worried expression on his face. He walked toward her, his arms stretching out to embrace.

"I... no..." she shook her head taking a few steps back her tears flowing faster and faster, along with her heart. He didn't stop, instead he smiled. Her back touched the wall behind her. She was trapped. He wrapped hi arms round her and pulled her into a warm embrace.

Katara felt her face get hotter and her body freeze. Her tears stopped flowing and they stood there for what seemed like forever. She smiled and buried her face in his chest. He didn't ask her what was wrong he just held her until she calmed down.

"Are you feeling better?" he asked wiping her last tears away.

"Yeah... Thank you... Zuko." she replied holding is hand in place on her cheek.

"By the way, that was a beautiful poem." His words took her by surprise. He heard her poem!

"Y-You heard me!?" He chuckled at her response.

"Yes, so am I right in thinking that you were talking about me?" He asked grinning.

"Yeah..." she muttered.

"We've finally reached at the seashore haven't we?" he said pulling her closer to him.

"Huh? Oh! Haha, yep! Just like magnets." She laughed. They smiled at each other and leaned in so that their foreheads touched.

"Zuko... thanks."

"For what? For loving you? Yes, well then your welcome Katara. Thanks for loving me too."

"Your welcome. Just like magnets."
