A/N: This is really short fic and it's simply a sad one. But nonetheless I hope you enjoy!
His eyes wouldn't open as much as he couldn't move his body. But he did hear something. The sound of water clicking in his ears and his body moving fluidly, floating and cold.
"John." A voice called softly.
"John." It called out again and it seemed familiar. Giving a sense of comfort, warmth as if he was home.
"John." The voice called louder now. Then he felt it. Two hands gripping him tightly, pulling him out of the water.
"JOHN!"
Then his eyes opened. John winced and started coughing violently as his lungs rejected the water and gasped for air.
"Oh thank God you're alive John!"
John looks at the owner of the voice and he couldn't help but feel disappointed. It was Flash and not who he thought it was. His body crumpled down to the ground from exhaustion. Being thrown from a blast was not how he thought this mission would go including landing on a freezing ocean. He was so used to someone catching him every time he falls. But things were different now.
"Oi! John." Flash poked his arm. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine Barry." John says in a hoarse voice. "Go find the others."
"You sure?" Barry asks face filled with worry.
"I'll be fine."
"Okay then." Flash slowly stands up when a bird crows loudly making them both jump at the sound. "I wonder what an eagle is doing at these parts."
John eyed the bird carefully. "It's not an eagle." Flash gave him a look. "It's a hawk."
Flash nods and quickly leaves him be. Knowing the topic might be too much for him. He missed her. She was like a mother to him that's why he called her "mother hen" even when she was far from what a chicken was. She was the bravest soul he's ever seen. Saving them all without question. Exchanging her life for the likes of them. Flash stopped his thoughts, feeling his eyes water, knowing that he'll never hear her laughter above every time she flew past him.
John still laying on the ground watched the hawk fly. Looking at it's wings, trying to imagine her there. Till he carefully whispered her name.
"Shayera."
