Nick was eating his bamboo and gazing at the people watching him like any normal day at the zoo. He liked his life as a panda here. He eats, he sleeps, and people look at him. It's a pretty good deal. The only part he didn't like was that he was lonely. He had no friends at the zoo. That is, excluding the zookeepers and the rat that hid in his habitat, but he was pretty sure the rat hated him.
Then one day that nice lady came in to wash him. He loved washing day because he had a friend. The zookeeper would talk to him, and then when she left he would smell like soap. He loved the smell of soap. This day was special though, he could tell when the lady came in to give him his bath. She seemed excited. He started getting his bath and the zookeeper was talking to him, as usual. He was right though, today was a special day. According to the zookeeper, he was getting a friend! A new panda was coming from a nearby zoo, and his name was Jeff.
The day went on and nothing happened. Nick was starting to get worried. What if there was no new panda? What if the zookeeper had lied to him? The crowds got thinner and Nick was losing hope. Then, as the last few people left the zoo, Nick heard a loud noise. It sounded like... a truck! The new panda! He ran over to the sound. He saw a big truck and out the back came another panda! It must be Jeff! Nick walked over to Jeff and they started talking. They had a lot in common. They shared some bamboo, joked around, and became great friends. And they lived happily ever after.
