Random thought that came to me while I was watching Girl Meets Master Plan. It was going to be a fluffy one-shot featuring Farkle's gadget watch, but then I wrote it and it sounded like the prologue to something and now here we are.
"Hey Riley," Farkle greeted as he past her in school. It only took him a few seconds before he realized something was wrong, her head buried in her locker. He quickly stopped and cautiously turned to her. "Are you okay?"
"No, I'm not okay," Riley responded venemously, whirling on him. Farkle stumbled backwards, taken aback by her sudden action. "Lucas dumped me, Farkle."
"Oh." Many different questions popped into the boy's head, but he decided now was not the time to ask any of them. For what felt like forever, they just stared at each other; Riley was breathing heavily through clenched teeth while Farkle searched for face for something he could say to help. Finally, Riley broke down, and tears poured from her eyes as she turned away from her genius friend and back to her locker, knocking things out of it. "What are you doing?" Farkle questioned slowly.
"It's him," Riley answered as she pulled out a notebook. "It's all him. My notebook where I wrote about him." Torn in half. "The baseball he caught me when we went to watch the Mets." Thrown down the hall. "The pencil I borrowed from him and never returned." Snapped. Farkle watched as Riley destroyed everything she could get her hands on that reminded her of the boy who broke her heart. Finally, when there was nothing left, a small, helpless whimper escaped from her mouth. "Why, Farkle?"
"I don't know, Riley," Farkle whispered in response. "I don't know." Riley collapsed into her friend's arms, sniffling and whimpering. Farkle just held her small, shaking body close, knowing there was nothing else he could do for her in this moment.
"Nothing's going to be the same after this, is it?" Riley asked as the tears finally stopped falling.
"I don't think so."
This is like, the shortest chapter I've ever written. And there's not a lot of romance here.
I'm disappointed in myself.
Don't worry, I'll add more as the story goes along.
