-1"Don't leave me alone" The look he was giving Dean was the most saddest look Dean had ever received from his brother. Sam and Dean were currently occupying their bedroom.
"It's okay Sammy, I'm not going anywhere" Dean said, pointing his thumb at his chest. "Cause I gotta look after you. Like I promised, right?"
Sam nodded, tears stained his beautiful coloured eyes. He rubbed his arm shyly, Dean just smiled and wrapped a protective arm around his brother.
Even Dean didn't feel well, Sam had gotten into trouble by John for them 'failing' a mission. It was little Sammy's first mission, what did John expect of him.
Except Dean knew, the first time Dean was taken out to hunt it had gone perfectly if not better then that. Now little Sammy stuffed up and got the family hurt.
Sam let out a sob and flung his arms around his brother's waist.
"I got you hurt. I didn't mean to!" Dean forced a smile and shook his head.
"No way, you could never. You're such a wuss, you wouldn't be able to" Sam hid his face in Dean's shirt.
"Why does dad get so angry?" Sam's muffled voice asked, tightening his grip on Dean.
"He…just worries about us, nothing to it" Dean answered simply, trying not to flinch or wince from the wounds of the creepy arse psycho monster -as Sam and himself had dubbed the supernatural- had inflicted upon him.
"I wish he wasn't, I wish he was a proper dad. Like Jake's dad, he's nice and normal…why can't we have normal?"
"I guess when mom died, we weren't meant to be normal. We were meant to help other's"
"Like destiny?" Sam's tiny voice asked, he looked up at Dean who snorted.
"No way, no such thing"
"Fate?"
"Nar don't think so"
"God's will?" Dean flinched, and glanced down at Sam. He couldn't tell Sam that there was no God, even though that's what Dean chose to believe. Dean smiled and ruffled his brother's hair.
"Yeah, something like that"
"Mommy used to tell you stories about angels and god, didn't she?" Sam asked, releasing his grip on Dean and plopped down on the carpet.
"Yeah, every night. When she tucked us in, she did it with you too. Always saying that angels are watching over us that they'll keep us safe" Dean joined his brother.
Sam smiled sleepily and leaned on his brother's shoulder, cradling his injured wrist which had gotten broken when they had gotten attacked by the creepy arse psycho monster.
"I'm glad the angels are watching over us, but, weren't they supposed to be protecting her?" Dean glanced at his brother and sighed.
"Maybe…they were busy"
"They were busy?" Sam questioned, giving a longing look towards at Dean.
"You know, they have to look after everyone. They couldn't get to her in time, you know. They'll always look after you, okay?" Dean said smiling down at his little brother.
"But, won't they look after you too?" Sam asked, Dean stopped smiling for a spilt second before he nodded.
"Probably, you never know though. Aye"
"Don't worry Dean. I'll pray for you, make sure the angels watch you" Sam smiled from ear to ear. Dean just smiled and shook his head.
"Heh, sure kiddo. You do that, okay?" Dean said, his eyes slowly closing on their own account.
And Sam did, every night when he grew up he prayed.
Dean stood, leaning heavily against the door frame. Watching the lifeless body of his brother, he slammed his fist against the wall.
Knowing what to do he was ready to sacrifice himself for his brother. He looked back only once at Sam whispering to his brother.
"Sorry, Sammy. God's will or not, I have to get you back" And he did, he didn't regret it, not once.
Maybe it was just god's will for Sam to live, to look after the family. To keep his brother from trouble, to keep the demons and other unimaginable evils at bay.
After all, without heaven, there would be no hell
