Maka blushed furiously as Soul stared at her, disbelief in his eyes.
"What?" Soul said, as if he couldn't believe his ears.
"Never mind!" Maka said as she quickly turned around and headed out of the empty classroom they were in.
"No, wait!" Soul said, grabbing her arm. "I was just surprised…. That's all…"
"So you want to kiss me?" Maka said hopefully.
"Well. I don't not want to…" Soul said, a blush coloring his cheeks a vivid red.
"Um... I don't know how to do this." Maka admitted as she awkwardly put her face closer to his.
"And you think I know how?" Soul said, angry," I have never kissed anyone either you know!"
"B-but, I just thought that since you were always talking about being cool and what not that you would have, I don't know, just have already kissed somebody…"
"Well I haven't…"
"How come?" Maka asked, genuinely curious.
"Because no one was you." Soul said, his tone surprisingly soft.
"What?" Maka said stupidly.
"Just never mind!" Soul said, ducking his head.
"No, wait! It is just that I am surprised that you felt that way… To be perfectly frank I sometimes got the feeling that you didn't like me at all…" Maka said, meaning to sound matter-of-fact but instead sounding close to tears.
"Hey, that's not fair! Don't cry now… I know sometimes we got into fights…"
"Sometimes?" Maka muttered.
"Sometimes," Soul continued, " we get into fights but… I don't know! I'm not good at this sappy stuff!"
"You are really annoying Soul…" Maka sighed.
"Shut up, bookworm." Soul growled.
"Bookworm?" Maka shouted, "Oh excuse me for actually studying! I know that that is a foreign concept to you but-"
Maka was cut off by Soul, who kissed her. He pressed his lips to hers, placing his hands on the back of her neck and lower back.
"Sorry for interrupting, I got impatient." Soul said sheepishly.
"You are so annoying." Maka said and left the room, Soul following close behind her.
Although as Maka and Soul left the room they were bickering, someone who was looking my have noticed something peculiar.
Half-hidden by Maka's coat two hands were tightly interlocked, seeming as if they would never let go.
