A Beautiful Way To End
(Zoycite's dying thoughts)

I hear my own scream echoing through my ears.
But I am not here.
This is not really happening.
Yet at the same time,
I am here.
This is happening.
The ending is near.

Someone shouts out. I can hear it.
But's it's very vague.
"No! It was my fault! Please listen to me!"
Or something of the sort.

Everything is dark. Why do I feel this way?
What's going on?
Am I....
Dead?
No! Not yet. I can't be,
I still have so much to do.
This can't be the end! It just can't!

Suddenly, I feel weightless.
I am lifted of the cold stone floor.
I feel out of it, as if I'm not here,
Yet at the same time, I'm not gone.

My eyes open slowly, my vision for a second is clouded.
When I can see straight once again, I realize
Malachite is holding me. He looks upset,
Concerned, sad,
Or is he....Scared?
I have never seen Malachite so scared
In all the time I've known him.

"Please, forgive me, love," he whispers, so sincerely.
"I tried to stop her, she should have punished me, not you."
"No," I say. "It's all my fault. The only one to blame is me.
Too blind to see the future, too impulsive for my own good. It's best it's me to go."

Breathing is a difficulty, it's harder to stay focused.
I know my time is near up.
"Please," I beg him. "Will you please promise me one last thing?
Please grant me one last wish?"
"Anything, my love," is his reply. "I'd do anything for you."
"I wish to die surround by beauty, by beautiful things I have so loved."
He nods and we are soon surrounded by flowers. A beautiful way to end.

"Thank you. It's beautiful," I whisper. A sakura petal caught in my hand.
"I love you, my Zoycite, and I'm sorry it had to end this way."
"Please don't forget me, don't forget, I'll always be with you in soul."
"I'd never forget you, not for anythng in this soon pointless world."

Now I know my time is up,
The clock's finally run out on me.
I rest my head lightly on his shoulder,
Glad to end by his side.
End.
An ending.
A beautiful way to end.
